Reiner Knizia Iphone/Ipad board games on sale now.

Heads up, folks. I know a bunch of us like Eurogames like the ones Reiner Knizia makes(of varying quality in my opinion). Well, he offers quite a few on the IOS platform, though they are usually up around $5 per game. They rarely have deep sales, though I’ve had them on my appshopper wishlist for a long time.

Today, several have dropped down to 99 cents.

Ra is now 99 cents.

Tigris and Euphrates is now 99 cents

Tikal is now 99 cents.

Medici is now 99 cents.
More keep coming, so perhaps they are gradually putting them all on sale. I thought the Dope would want to know.

And, no, I don’t work for the company at all. I just like games and sales = good.

I’m not familiar with those games, but I love an app sale. Is there a discounted one in particular I should try first?

I’ve played the board versions of those games. Can you play single-player on those apps?

I’ll have to see if there are any Knizia games for Android. My favorite of his is probably Traumfabrik (Dream Factory).

ETA: I see Labyrinth, Through the Desert and Clustermaster available on the Android Market. Desert is $3 but the others are free.

I have not yet played it, but Tigris and Euphrates is considered one of his masterpieces.

Against AI. He does have a nice list of puzzle games(single-player) on the IOS as well.

Well after further looking, none of the games in the OP seem to be available in the Market yet. Labyrinth looks really cool but it’s too big for me to d/l until I get home.

Tikal is NOT by Knizia (though I hd to look it up to be sure)

Of his physical games, I like Lost Cities, Samurai, FITS (aka Tetris the board game) and Money

Brian

turns out it is Codito (company) games that are on sale - most of the Codito games are Knizia

Correct, my bad. It is a Spiels de Jahre, though.

It must be from the same company and it is a Eurogame(also German).

If you like board games on iPad, then http://ipadboardgames.org/ is a must-read. The guy who runs the site (Angelus Morningstar) does a nice job providing good data about the games, including explaining the basics of the rules. He occasionally drives me nuts with word misuse (then/than and the like) but I keep coming back.

They have Tigris and Euphrates as their #1 rated game.

I got it, played it, and liked it. Like many of these Eurogames, it seems quite complicated at first, but once I played a “open game”(see each other’s cards) game with my wife, I understood it.

It plays great on the Iphone, too. Zero problem seeing things, placing things, and playing the game. Honestly, it’s like buying the game for $1, which retails for quite a bit of cash.

Reported.

Thanks for the tip. I love sales, and I needed a new game for my iPad.

Has anyone played Medici? Does it really require 3 players instead of 2?

Playing Tikal now against the game. Seems like a very cool game. I could get into it.

Have yet to play a game of Ra(though I own the dice game version and love it).

I don’t currently have an iPhone but am planning on getting one (waiting for my current contract to expire) - if I wanted to get a couple of these games at the current price could I buy them through my iTunes account now and sync them to a new phone in the future?

Yes.

I have no idea what these are, or what makes a game a “Euro Game”, but I got all 4 listed in the OP and look forward to wasting time with them.

Now if only we could get iPad versions of Illuminati and Nuclear War and Car Wars and maybe Acquire……

ETA: Thanks for the tip, Mahaloth!

Is it me or is this game (Tigris and Euphrates) extremely difficult? Any hints on how to play this game well?
