Reluctantly — Fuck Texas

Ostensibly it’s to make bachelor’s degrees more affordable. But to that, I’d rebut that the easiest way for him to accomplish that would be to go back to having the state subsidize tuition like they did in the 90 and early 2000s, rather than devaluing the degrees we offer.

Also, making sure kids can read before awarding them high school diplomas might help.

All the angst and effort over the last 30 years making and re-making different standardized tests and increasing the number of testing days per year until there’s no more time for proper instruction and uninspiring teacher pay, and you’d think they’d maybe have figured out maybe, just maybe, they don’t know what they’re doing on education

IMO they know exactly what they’re doing on education.

The RW wants the kids of the elites to go to private school and get an education and they want everyone else as ignorant and unimaginative as possible.

Their interest is not “greatest success for the USA”. It’s in “greatest success for me and my kids versus the USA.”

Exactly what the Pubbies are trying to do in Kansas. They’ve been underfunding public education for years, and now they’re pointing to the failure of the schools as an excuse to pass vouchers. Which will, of course, benefit all the kids that are already enrolled in private schools, but will do nothing for the underserved rural areas where there will never ever be a private school.

Even better, I know parents who sent their kids to Baylor University (Southern Baptist affiliated) who have made similar complaints. Clearly critical thinking is the issue as far as these folks are concerned. These people just want their offspring to drink the kool-aid and get a degree but not really learn anything.

It is to laugh.

Um… think that will wind up back in court, this time under freedom of religion rules because quite a few of the Fundy types oppose women wearing anything BUT skirts and dresses.
