This video is great if you have any memories of this game.
I don’t think I ever played the game, but I sure played with the game.
Yeah, that was kinda how we treated it as kids. Had no idea who Rube Goldberg was, but dang, it was fun to use the diving board as a catapult to launch plastic army men at Lincoln log forts.
There were so many parts I’m confident most kids probably were missing components after playing with it only a couple times.
I had one and managed to keep the pieces somehow for almost a decade and passed it on to my nephew. But I actually played with the game far more often than I played the game.
My son ended up with a set when he was maybe 8. Sadly lost pieces almost immediately.
Strange how everybody remembers Mouse Trap, but hardly remembers the other game in the “series,” Crazy Clock - I think it had something to do with an alarm clock that eventually knocked somebody out of bed

*Warning: Long and boring. Jump ahead through it. *
Apparently there was a third game called Fish Bait: Fish Bait Game. - YouTube
*This one is very short. *
Neither Crazy Clock or Fish Bait really sold much, thus forgotten. Mousetrap keeps getting revived also.
I loved, loved Mousetrap. I kept it together for awhile. Daring my younger brother to touch it. As soon as I got bored with it and passed it down, pieces were lost, immediately.
Oh, I thought you were going for the video game from 1981. At any rate, I remember both. I’m not entirely sure if I had the board game. I feel like it’s something my cousins had, but never managed to make it work properly.
I played MouseTrap as a kid, and with MY kids when they were old enough. A part broke once and I emailed the company and they sent out a replacement, which I thought was pretty cool.
Also, I’m angry that that video ends with the bell NOT falling
Don’t recall Crazy Clock or Fish Bait, but I may be one of the few people who remember Bing Bang Boing (nearly-impossible-to-follow video here).
Mouse Trap was a game I longed to play as a kid. It was my white whale.
I never had a copy, but I was aware of many copies. The kids next door had one. My afterschool program had one. There were others.
But of course, none of them were playable. They were all missing pieces.
I actually loved that because in real life it almost never worked.
I had Mouse Trap and it worked. I lusted for Crazy Clock. Never heard of Fish Bait.
I had it briefly, and set off the machine a few times, but I never played the actual game (there was a game that came with it? Why?).
The game, if I remember right (haven’t played in decades) involved collecting the pieces as you moved around the board. You’re building the contraption a bit at a time, and the winner is the one who is able to finally catch the mouse.
I do have the song from the commercial memorized though, I think. This is purely from memory so I probably got something wrong or always misheard it:
Turn the crank, hit the plank,
Kick the boot and down the chute.
Watch it roll, hit the pole,
In the tub a rub-a-dub.
Flip the man, in the pan, the trap is set,
Now drooooooooop the net.
I swear 90% of my brain storage is wasted memorizing commercial jingles and old sitcom theme songs. It’s a crazy hoarder.
How about a (live catch) mouse trap made from an actual Mouse Trap game?
Yeah, I read through the rules for the game, too. And then said “Why would anyone waste time on the game part, when you can just build the thing?”.
True, but explaining to 5 year old kids why it didn’t work was not much fun.
The coleco vision game was fabulous with great sound effects. Played that for hours.
