Remember when I said no more Star Trek Questions?

I lied, just ask any of my ex-girlfriends I lie a lot. Now to the point. Since this Fall is Voyager’s final season what is going to replace Voyager? Am I going to be condemned to Star Trek re-runs just as I’m re-discovering the joyous geekiness of Star Trek?

Does anyone have any actuall confirmed information?

According to what I’ve seen (Which might be all lies, but I’d like to think Space got their facts right when they put this in the Space News segment): The upcoming Trek series is (at this point) to be called ‘Birth of the Federation’, (Or something in that vein, I might be misremembering). It will be (logically) set during the early days of the Federation (Soon after First Contact - 21st/22nd centuries).

I’d have liked to see the aftermath of the Dominion War, but, this seems interesting, too.

Eschew Obfuscation

I’ve also heard persistant rumors about a series based on Star Fleet Acadamy. Frankly, I think it’d flop.

Maybe if they did another era, like the above-mentioned beginings of the Federation, or maybe the other way, into the 25th century (look out, Buck Rogers).

I’d like to see more of the 29th century Federation, which seems to be tasked with fixing the timeline that the idiots in the 23rd & 24th centuries keep twisting.

There are several rumors about the potential new Star Trek show, but no confirmation from Paramount. The one with the most visibility now is a series starring George Takei as Captain Sulu. As you may remember from “ST VI: The Undiscovered Country”, Sulu had finally gotten a big promotion and got his own ship (the “Excelsior”, I believe). Fans have already started bugging Paramount, and Takei has gone on record as saying he’s very interested in the idea.

Of course Takei is interested. I don’t think he’s got much else going on. According to this weeks T.V. Guide (I know, I know, but I needed something to read on the pot) the gentleman now in charge of the series at Paramount has stated that the most likely scenario is indeed an “Origins” episode set in 22nd century or so, with the added plot twist of a main villain who has traveled back in time from the 29th Century to interrupt the growth of the pesky Federation.

Takei’s main proponents seem to be an organization of TOS Trek fans who have waaaaay too much time on their hands.
