Remote page turner for Kindle books in the web browser?

Not sure if this is the best forum for this, but it feels right…

I primarily read books with the Kindle web browser app on my Windows computer (with a large monitor.) Does anyone know of a remote (Bluetooth, etc.) page turner that would work? I have looked on Amazon and Googled this but I only see turners for the actual Kindle device or Android/iOS apps.

I think you can use any page turners that can act as a keyboard and send a “page down” or similar keystroke. You might also be able to remap one with Autohotkey?

Sorry I don’t have a specific model in mind…

For example, this one explicitly says it can send page down and arrow keys: Amazon.com: PageFlip Butterfly Bluetooth Page Turner Pedal – Silent, Rugged Foot Pedal Page Turner for iPad, Android & PC – Hands-Free Sheet Music Control – Works with forScore, OnSong, MobileSheets and 100+ more : Musical Instruments

Try those keys on your current keyboard. If they flip the page successfully, the page turner should too. In keyboard mode, it really is just a keyboard (with two keys).

There are many page turners out there for musicians. We use them with our iPads and the ForScore app to flip back and forth through music. They are typically a pedal or stomp box with right and left buttons.

They work great, though I have had varying degrees of success from them. The PageFlip ones mentioned by Reply are the best for me. I use the PageFlip Firefly, and it has never failed me–always connects when I turn it on and it rarely misses a page turn.

Ok, thanks. The pedal style won’t work for me, but I bet I can find the same tech in a handheld format.

Any reason a wireless mouse wouldn’t work?

Technically it would, but I sit back a bit from the computer and I’m looking for something I can just hold in my hand. I am going to try a wireless presenter remote.

I still don’t see why a small wireless mouse wouldn’t work. You’d just hold it in your hand instead of keeping it on the desk.

I sometimes use one when I’m presenting at work: I keep my laptop on the conference table, put a small mouse in my hand, and I can advance the slides when I want to while still moving around the room. All I’m doing is right-or left-clicking, but if I suddenly need to move the mouse pointer I use my leg as a mousepad.

There are any number of wireless numeric keypads, some with arrow keys which should work as page up and page down, assuming a simple tap is preferred to moving a wireless mouse.

Not the OP, but personally, I think it’s just a comfort thing… if I’m going to be sitting there for an hour or two, I don’t want to hold a mouse or keypad in my hand just to flip the page. And it’s not always easy to find the right button, especially if the room is dark-ish.

Something like a wireless presenter (Logitech R500s Laser Pointer Presentation Remote) would be more comfortable to hold, with a big clear button to use to turn the page. (That button can be customized to send whatever keystroke you need it to)

They also make finger-worn kinds so you don’t even have to hold anything, but I’ve never used one of these so don’t know how well they work: Amazon.com : 3-Link TikTok Scrolling Ring with Touchpad, Finger Silent Air Mouse, Remote Control for TikTok/YouTube Shorts/Instagram Reels, Bluetooth Page Turner for iPad/Kindle App/iPhone/Android/PC (Black) : Electronics

Thanks, that ring looks good. I saw some when I searched but they don’t all specify they work with a PC.

I am still not sure this one does, either. (They’re not super clear about it). I suspect the scroll wheel would, because it’s a scroll wheel. I’d think a button turner would be more comfortable to use (less likely to accidentally flip the page the wrong direction), but it would depend on what keystroke it sends. The vendor isn’t always clear about that.

You can always buy a few and return the ones that don’t work…

I ordered a standard stick-style presenter remote that’s pretty small. I’ll see if that works first.

Sounds good.

And I just have to say, gosh, when did life become so complicated? “How to optimize the page turning” was something I never thought about when we were young and paper books were still in vogue… even though I read 100x more back then…

Now I can have giant books on my screen in any font and color that I like, using any of a thousand different ways to turn the page or scroll the thing, or have it read aloud to me by humans or AI, or instantly summarized and translated… and yet I can’t remember the last time I finished a whole book…

Oh, the times, they be a-complicatin’…

Facts. I still read about a book a week but I work from home and have a lot f free time.

As a follow-up, the wireless presenter I ordered works great. It’s quite small and only requires a thumb click to turn the page.
