Opinions about my neighbor building a fence

I’ve lived in this house almost 30 years. There is no fence between my property and my neighbor’s. A couple of years ago a young family moved in next door. I’ve had just a few minor interactions with them and they seem pleasant enough. A few days ago the wife approached me while I was outside and told me that they are planning some extensive landscaping and are thinking about adding a fence between our properties, because at some point they may get a dog for their kids.
