• Telling students they don’t have to “believe” in evolution but they have to know it for tests.

• Telling students to make up their own minds – even though scientists say that they are as certain of the validity of evolution as they are of other scientific principles taken as fact.

Since teachers are all democrats, you can’t blame the republicans for not believing in evolution. Obviously.

No, I’m not making them up. I heard and read one or the other coming from lefties constantly from the late sixties to somewhere around the mid-to-late eighties, by which time the justice system had become so FUBARed that people were no longer shocked by what was going on and had begun to regard it as normal.

What you’re not getting is that liberalism is about change, about learning from the recent past, about re-evaluation and reform.

Conservatism is the belief that traditional societal norms have been entirely correct all along. There is no reform, only corruption.

So to the extent that your characterization is not a stereotype, no doubt very few Democrats active today fit it. Every 15 years or so you need to wipe the slate clean and base your assessment of liberals on what their stated positions actually currently are.

I don’t think the average conservative today is all that racist, but that means they’re being liberal on that particular issue. They’ve reformed or embraced the reformed view. Conservatism itself still includes racism because that doesn’t change.

So the 80s is too far back to go for liberals, but the 60s is nothing for conservatives.

After all, the congressman in the OP is getting his marching orders from 1300 BC!

To bring things back around to the non-funny side, no. Conservatives are still pushing abstinence-till-marriage even though it’s a rare conservative who obeys that rule. So if you’re getting laid, thank a liberal.

As for unwanted pregnancies, of course conservatives are to blame for them–and for dragging the schools into the gutter–because of their opposition to birth control.

Now, as to intelligence, during my lifetime I have seen: the family unit rent asunder, with the result that millions of kids have no adult guidance and supervision; drug use and its associated crime explode exponentially; the evolvement of a revolving-door prision systems that results in felons with multiple major convictions walking the streets committing murders, rapes and robberies while still in their twenties; the rise of entertainment and music that glamorizes crime and misogyny and fosters all sorts of negative character traits; and an educational system that began passing kids from one grade to the next because to flunk them would harm their “self-esteem”. Each of these is directly attributable to liberalism in one way or another, and none of them in my opinion rises in intelligence anywhere near to the belief that man descended from apes.

Conservative war on drugs… conservative views on what a family unit even is (no parents are better than two daddies little orphan!)… inappropriate amount of jail time, caused by the war on drugs, causes people who committed a victimless crime to be trapped in a cycle that just gets worse… rap music can be misogynistic but old skool conservative values would want Nicki Minaj in the back of the bus and then at home raising her kids… and this is all ignoring your abstract claims, like drug use is much worse. A lot more things have been invented AND made illegal versus 100 years ago.

Yeah, and there are some things that are so blindingly and obviously stupid that a four-year-old would know better, and even a four-year-old would know that if you pass kids from grade to grade without learning anything, you are doing more long-term harm to their self-esteem than would ever occur because of whatever self-esteem they lose by blowing off their school work and getting an “F.”

Unless of course you can explain how flipping burgers all your life supposed to result in wonderful self-esteem?

How in hell such an idea ever got floated in the first place is mind-boggling enough, but it’s having found acceptance within the liberal community is a hell of a lot more stupid than anything some Republican politician believes about God.

Here is my crazy liberal take on how to run schools: Take away Churches unnecessary tax exempt status, slash the defense budget, and put that money towards the public school system. Now that teachers get paid a better salary, you will get better more enthusiastic teachers who will be encouraged to seek further education; now that classes are much smaller kids can get personal attention so they don’t get left behind; now poor schools can update their technology and tech education to compete with the rest of the world.

If your plan is to just keep failing these kids back into a system that isn’t fit to help them, enjoy your high school drop outs that are committing crimes and making there way in and out of our ‘revolving door prisons’.
