Right now. CNN carrying it.
Just turned in. What have I missed so far?
ETA: Chief speaking now. Not much detail.
Lemme’ link to CNN’s live update page (I doubt you missed much):
I know it’s only a couple hours but they usually have a little more information before they give a press conference
Thanks. I note that the chief spoke of how many LEO were on hand to protect the rally, yet this happened. Any discussion of the implications of that doesn’t belong in this breaking news thread, so I will look in other forums.
ETA: Although the mayor is speaking somewhat to that right now.
A horrible ending to what should be a wonderful day.
The drivers of the big buses are from philly. I know some of the drivers as they have driven my building’s shuttle. I hope they are okay.
Here’s the live stream straight from KCTV5.
TMZ has some video:
Another video:
Latest report is 1 dead, 22 injured.
Children’s Mercy Hospital reports that they have treated 12 people, 11 of whom are children, 9 of which have gunshot wounds.
This was a massive crowd. Thankful the shooter didn’t hit more victims. They did arrest 2 suspects
The spokesperson said over 800 officers were working security. Yet, this still happened.
CNN just reported 22 gunshot victims, seven (CNN website says eight) with life-threatening injuries.
ETA: “three persons detained”
Never mind
Yeah, my words are not appropriate for this forum as well.
I saw in an article “Officials say they do not believe the motive was terrorism” but it doesn’t say what they think the motive was. If it was two or more people shooting together at the crowd I don’t think they could call it anything but terrorism. Makes me think it may have been a dispute between several people shooting at each other in a crowd.
i daresay it will be days before the full story comes out.
From what I can tell. Two (or more) people got in some kind of dispute but they weren’t near each other. So were shooting at each other over some distance. And apparently weren’t that good at aiming.
This is what I have heard as well.
The official count still lists one dead and 22 injured.
And no motive has been released.
This is heartbreaking. I’m a Chiefs fan, and I grew up in Kansas City. Thankfully, I live in Indianapolis - otherwise I absolutely would have taken my kids to this yesterday, as this was the year they finally got into watching football with me. When I read Children Mercy Hospital’s tweet last night (essentially “we are treating 9 child victims of the shooting today. If you believe one of them is your child, contact us at [phone number]”), my heart absolutely sank - I very easily put myself in the mind of the parents that tweet could have applied to.
I am so fed up that this keeps happening.
