I actually did something constructive! I vacuumed my car (it was really nasty in there) then I vacuumed the house. The shrimps are all thawed, so I’ll be steaming them in an hour or so. **FCD **has quit in the workshop, so both cars are in the garage again - yay! We won’t have to freeze too much in the morning.
That little woodstove is pretty amazing. The garage (uninsulated) is more that 30 degrees warmer than the outside, making it a good workspace. And when we build the new garage, the workshop will be a very nice place to work indeed. If we really stoked it up, it’d warm part of the house, too, I think.
Sun is shining, pavement is drying, and the weekend is slipping away. Glad this will be a short week.
I hope your company doesn’t make you pay anything towards the deductible on the slashed tires, Special One – I mean, it’s not as if you did anything to cause it! It’s not like an accident, where you might be at fault. Anyway, that really sucked; I hope they catch whoever did it.
I’m quite envious of your little woodstove, FCM. I wish I could put one in my office – it could sure use it! This corner of the house seems to be the coldest; I’ve taken lately to sitting with my feet on a heating pad turned on very low, with a heavy blanket over my lap (a Korean mink blanket – not made from actual mink, just double-thick and fluffy and incredibly warm – right, Haze). Between the heating pad and the blanket, at least I’m comfy while I work. Papa Tigs brought home the real estate section of the San Antonio paper, and we are both weeping at the prices – 4 bedroom/3 bath homes for 120K or less, in good neighborhoods. All he needs to do now is get a job there, dammit!
Back to work. Yuck.
Wow, Papa Tigs actually listened to me and has been calling people to let them know he’s not going in tomorrow. Which is good; I didn’t want to have to take his keys away. He’s occasionally struck by common sense, thank heaven; and in this case, passing along a rather violent intestinal bug to people already in a hospital was such an obviously bad idea that even he agreed. Amazing.
It’s nice to finally have some bright sunshine after a week of greyness and gloominess. We really need to move south again; I would far prefer to have many more hours of daylight every day, especially in the winter.
MIL called to invite me to Xmas day at their house. Then she said that I should be sure to tell the children. As if I’m going to go off without them…
I think she might be getting senile, which will only add to my fun.
What? You thought I was a nice person? Silly you…
For those of us who are stuck inside and bored–here are some SNOWPOCALYPSE '08!!1! videos to check out. The dogs get weird when they get bored…
We’ve been out stomping around in it, crashing through the ice crust and squeaking on the powdery stuff underneath. The dogs went out and finally did a pooping, peeing extravaganza–apparently they’ve been holding on to it for a while, hoping for better conditions. Get 'em running around for a while and they can’t hold it, though, ha ha! Everything’s coated in ice–I took a buncha pictures (you’re shocked at this, I know!) but haven’t checked them out yet. I’ll link any that seem worthwhile.
The neighbors managed to get to the street but got stuck less than a house away–apparently she was trying to get to work. She’s a nurse, so I applaud the effort, but really–if it ain’t 4WD with chains it ain’t happenin’. Hyundai without chains–no way.
Shrimps have been ingested, with enough left over for another meal. I also pulled out the last two twice-baked N.O.T. and mixed up a fresh batch of cocktail sauce. Not bad for an easy supper. The dishwasher is running and Mythbusters is on the TV.
Temps dropping to 20-ish tonight, and tomorrow it might hit 32. At least it’s supposed to be clear and sunny. And we’ll start gaining daylight, so huzzah for that!
I just made a bunch of meatballs. Ol’ y’all know who’s workplace is havin’ a little in the office thing on Tuesday and he leaves Wednesday mornin’ to go see family for Christmas. Well, he was goin’ to Sam’s Club and buy a bag of the frozen meatballs. They’re like thirteen bucks for a bag. I said to him that I could make a whole bunch of meatballs for less than that, so I did. He got the ground beast and I made the meatballs. The good thing is, it made a buncha meatballs. Enough for his partay on Tuesday (they will transform into sweet and sour meatballs when the gasp store boughten gasp sauce is poured over 'em and they simmer away in the little slow cooker he’ll take 'em to work in, plus enough that I froze a bunch for later uses. Sketties and meatballs and stroganoff are in the foreseeable future. YUM!
It’s been snowing all day, and is supposed to keep going all night and a lot of tomorrow. Pics, should I be able to post them correctly, will be forthcoming tomorrow since I’m off work and have no plans at all besides hanging around the house and petting my kitty. Also, at some point, digging my car out so I don’t have to do that Tuesday morning. Bleah.
I was sterilizing the front bathroom that Papa Tigs has been using all day. Needless to say, I wasn’t going to use it until it was cleaned within an inch of its life.
