Reports that Jerry Doyle of 'Babylon 5' has died

One episode a guy in a bar was going on about killing people on Mars who were trying to break free from Earth.

Garabaldi offered to show him his ‘Magic Trick’ which was to try and make the guy’s head pass through the bar.

From Memory:

Grabs the guy by the back of the head and slams it into the bar:

wham
“Now what was the magic word?”
wham
“Abracadabra?”
wham
“Shazam?”
wham
“Nope, that’s not it. I’ll go now and see if I can remember what it was.”

Damn. The B5 curse…

And now Jerry Doyle. I too, was not a fan of his politics, but loved his character and the whole damned show.

I thought he’d already passed on…but looking through the thread, I think I was thinking of Jeff Conaway.

Still…sad that another member of the cast has died relatively young… (Are Bruce Boxleitner and Peter Jurasik the only major male cast members left?)

Claudia Christian is still around, yeah?

Claudia is most emphatically female. Just Google her name with “nude” as part of the search.

Dur. Missed the word “male” there.

Is ok. Just gave me reason to run a search of her various…poses.

Can’t believe Garibaldi never tapped that.

Mira Furlan (Delen) is still kicking along OK.

Heh, me too.

Walter Koenig had a large role.

Captain John Sheridan: [Bester arrives in a Psi Corp Starfury] Mr. Bester, we no longer have any ties to Earth or to the Psi Corps. So we don’t have to put up with you or your games. Now, I am sitting on four brand new uni-directional pulse cannons. Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t blow you out of the sky.
PsiCop Alfred Bester: Because you’re curious. Kill me and you’ll never know what brought me all the way out here. I think if you weigh that against the brief satisfaction of blowing me out of the sky, you’ll do the right thing.
[long pause]
PsiCop Alfred Bester: Captain?
Captain John Sheridan: I’m thinking it over.

Oooh, yes, I forgot about him. The Chekov that hasn’t died. (RIP Anton.)

Bill Mumy, Stephen Furst and Jason Carter are still around

As are Tracy Scoggins, Patricia Tallman and Andrea Thompson.

Ed Wasser (Morden) is also still around but appears to have given up acting to work in construction. And Ardwight Chamberlain, who voiced Kosh, is likewise still kicking.

The show would never be the same with out him.

He was one of the best on the show.

I wonder how this is going to play out with reboot in the works.
A feature movie that would reboot the series

I’ve seen JMS say that a couple times and nothing’s come of it yet. I hope this time it’s different. I suppose if anyone can write around the holes in the cast it’s him.

I’m still sad about JD. I’ve been re-watching B5 this last week. Zima!

Heh.

I’m not sure I want a reboot. For all the problems the series had, the good bits were spectacularly good and many of them involved Katsulas and Doyle (not necessarily together).

I hope a feature movie and reboot never come to pass.

I’m 49.5% with you. But the number is dropping. I think a reboot could be a fantastic thing - they could do so much more on a limited budget now.

Besides, my only takeway from SHIELD was that Henry Simmons would make an absolutely deadly Garibaldi.

Coroner’s report is in: natural causes, all tracing to lifelong alcoholism.

I guess Garibaldi was less of an act than we thought.

Why is it so hard to find happiness when so many people love and admire you?
