You know you’re pond scum when Matt Gaetz praises you at length on the floor of the United States House of Representatives.
Gaetz didn’t praise him at all. Gaetz specifically said that this isn’t about Santos; it’s about not setting the precedent of kicking someone out who hasn’t been convicted. He then gave examples of other people who were accused of and even admitted to crimes who weren’t expelled
Ah, thanks.
My pleasure. The other person I saw speak for him made the same arguments but in a slow drawl and didn’t call other people out by name.
The expel side was bipartisan and mostly people from neighboring districts.
Of course, Gaetz wouldn’t have been thinking of an example closer to home, would he?
So, business as usual for him? -snerk-
So we should expect a quiet resignation any moment.
Santos already has gotten everything he wanted for the future. Name recognition, money, contacts, with just a soupçon of martyr for that topper. Expulsion means nothing to him except more cameras and headlines.
I sincerely hope his future includes substantial federal prison time and seizure of illegally gained assets.
I wish they would shit or get off the pot with this one. I’m hoping they expel, but I’m tired of all the shenanigans. The GOP doesn’t even pretend to be trying to get down to the business of running this country. They just want to conduct a reality show 24/7 at this point.
Which name, though?
Going, going, gone…!!!
They have the votes
“Two thirds having voted in the affirmative, the resolution is adopted.”
“The Clerk shall notify the governor of the State of New York of the action of the House.”
“The chair certifies that in view of the action if the House, the whole number of the House members is 434.”
…and that’s it as for ceremony.
I knew if I predicted the opposite, it would happen. Yay!
Bye Felicia!
Awesome! Will he still get all his congressional goodies, even after “serving” so shamefully?
wow! that was not close at all. 311 - 114.
I like that he’s calling it a witch hunt. It’ll help people understand what Trump means when he calls things a witch hunt, that is, getting in trouble for doing things you’re not supposed to do.
Well if I were the property office I’d count the desk lamps. The only “goodie” he would have as as a former member under the rules is his free entry into the House spaces AFAICT and that’s subject to change.
He did not serve long enough to qualify for any pension or other retirement benefits.
