Republican Attorneys General Run Massive Six State Extortion Racket

Hey minty! I think we may have finally found out why Pryor was on that anti-dildo crusade! He called the manufacturers/resellers up and they told him to sit on it.

Enjoy,
Steven

It is wrong, on the face of it, for an attorney general to solicit funds from someone subject to his investigation. No threat is required, no laws need to be broken, no rewards offered. It is an abuse of power, and the effect of coercion cannot be removed just by showing benign intent. Those companies subject to the power of the AG’s do not know if the intent is pure; why should they risk their future by trusting the honor of someone who has already stooped to coercion? Better to pay the graft with no questions, than risk retribution if the AG is not as honorable as you give them credit for.

Puddleglum, it’s one thing to expect us to keep an open mind on this attorneys general thing, it’s another to expect us to let our brains fall out.

Aparrently, Fear Itself doesn’t have a proble with “vague, ‘guilt by association’” charges when they suit his interests.

Please be more specific about which of my posts imply “guilt by association”. Not only are all the instances of improper fund raising well documented, the Republicans admit they occurred, but that there is nothing wrong with them.

Thank you for playing, please try again.

Judicial officers, more than any other sort of politician, are obliged to not only avoid conflicts of interest, they are supposed to avoid even the appearance of any conflicts of interest. This is identical to a traffic cop talking about how baby needs new shoes while he’s writing out your ticket.

All of these folks need to have a nice stay at the graybar hotel.

I think you are being paranoid, Fear Itself. It has been pointed out that there is no evidence of any threats if the companies didn’t donate. I suspect you just have a suspicious nature. I guess you would object to the accused being aquitted by a jury of his friends and family even though there is no evidence that they were were led to an improper conclusion by their relationship with him. Why, I bet you would even want to get rid of your parish priest if it were discovered that he had molested several children in the past even though there is no evidence that he is molesting your kids. Sheesh, stop being so closeminded!
[sarcasm off]

It seems to me that this is a clear attempt to make the reader think that Ashcroft, Bush, and the rest of his adminstration are responsible for this, despite the fact that this started before they took office.

You say that Republicans don’t see a problem with this, but the one you quote apparently is among the accused, so of course he would see nothing wrong with it. Not seeing anything wrong with it is a lesser included offense, so to speak. So your statement boils down to “Republicans were involved in this”, which is a classic guilt by association statement.

Oh puh-lease, all the AG’s involved were Republicans. They weren’t just associating with the guilty, they were the guilty!! You are really stretching to contrive a conclusion to the contrary.

Just for the record here:

As a life long democrat, I can only say that Willie Brown is one of the sleaziest politicians California has ever extruded from its political cloaca. He makes Gray Davis look like a standup guy.

But just because all of the guilty were Republicans, that doesn’t mean that all Republicans are guilty.

I agree; please quote me where I said otherwise.

The very nature of vague gulty by association accusations precludes me from presenting a quote of you directly stating this, but I have already quoted where you implied it.

And you call my charges vague?

You did pretty much smear everyone not in your own corrupt party.
