This fact. I am stunned, every single day by this fact. I look at him and I see a person who is catastrophically unqualified for the job of POTUS. They see…the best POTUS ever? It’s breathtaking.
To be fair, not all of his fans think he’s the best president ever. But just the fact that they thought that he was better than the alternative is bad enough.
And probably another 20-50% thinks we should go back to the Jim Crow era.
Republicans are just shit.
I got called out for saying that I’m ‘dehumanizing’ them. Well what the fuck am I supposed to think of these fucking animals? That they made a mistake? That they got duped? Fuck no, they know what they’re voting for. They’re goddamned America’s version of Nazis.
Agreed. And some misogyny thrown in for good measure. I find the “identity politics” label from the right to be sad and an obvious projection - their whiteness is more important than anything else. Besides pwning the libtards, that is
ETA: Also, making sure shitty things happens to “others”.

Like the chicken and egg question, this is just an example for others to wonder if Trump Republicans deserve a boot to the head or if they are like that thanks to too many boots to the head.

I don't click through to YouTube links, so I'll just say I have no idea who or what you're talking about, and would probably care even less if I knew, and leave it at that.
Everything is fine with Republicans, including those in Congress.
20 Republican-controlled states are suing to get the pre-existing condition coverage requirement removed. Lotsa GOP candidates look at the camera and talk in sincere tones about how they have family and friends with pre-existing conditions, and how important this coverage is to them - but have they said a word against those fighting to remove that coverage?
And those in Congress - practically all of them voted to gut or remove that requirement, because that’s what the Obamacare repeal bills did.
They’re fine with kids being snatched from their parents and locked up in cages.
They’re fine with workers making $12/hour not getting paid overtime because their employer says they’re a ‘supervisor,’ because they voted to repeal the Obama-era reg that would have prohibited that for workers making under $50K/year before it took effect.
They’re fine with a metric ton of bad shit. And I’m not just talking about the MAGA-hat folks, I’m talking about Republican governors and Congresspersons and candidates and officeholders at pretty much every level now.
And yet, the Republicans seem to be energized since the Democrats dared to question a judicial nominee about allegations of sexual assault. Democrats are not only losing the opportunity to recapture the Senate, which once seemed feasible, but they’re now in danger of becoming an even smaller minority. If RBG goes down, the Courts will become even more reliably conservative - for decades to come.
There’s no cure for stupid. The stupid people who believe that republicans can do whatever they want as long as they have a good job outnumber us.
Huh. According to 538, the Kavanaugh bump is already gone nationally. So the Dems won’t be “an even smaller minority” in terms of public support.
The Dems are overwhelmingly favored to retake the House: by 538’s measure, if the Dems take all the solid/likely/lean Dem seats, and not a single tossup or worse, they’ll have 216 seats in the next House. And the likelihood that the Dems will get nearly shut out on those tossups is awfully slim. So they won’t be “an even smaller minority” in the House; they’ll almost surely be in the majority there.
The Senate’s being played out on a battlefield that’s always favored the Republicans, yet the odds there in terms of gain/loss are almost balanced: according to 538, there’s ~18% chance that things stay right where they are (net), 16% each that the Dems gain/lose one seat, 21% chance that the Dems gain 2 or more seats (to win a majority), and 29% chance that the GOP gains 2 or more.
Yeah, the Senate’s more of an uphill battle than it was a few weeks ago, but it’s never been better than about a 1-in-3 chance of a majority, so now it’s 21% instead of 33%. Yeah, that’s disappointing, but I’m not going to go into a tailspin about it.
Oh yeah, now that Trump’s saying he wants to pull the U.S. out of the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces treaty, I bet the Republicans in Congress will be fine with that too.
Trump’s approval rating just hit an all-time high.
The Democrats will (probably) win the House, but not by much. They will lose the Senate, and the split government will play into Trump’s hands. He feeds off of gladiator politics, and there is probably no better scenario for his re-election campaign than what he’s about to be given. A solid senate majority with a minority in the House that can be bullied.
The underlying problem here is that this country is dumb. There’s no fixing stupid. We’re going to have to feel the pain before we cleanse ourselves and rid ourselves of this sickness. Another great depression might - might - do the trick.
