Republicans' war on transgender people: Omnibus thread

AKA “hatewashing”.

I went to a dance last night. A couple of trans women were there. Such harmless people. Just a pair of young women giggling and having fun. This thread is so depressing. People hating, with no idea of what they are hating. Just hating… I dunno, to make themselves feel better. I just want to cry.

…recent cases that have gone to Federal Court have been heartening.

That last sentence (bolding mine), is the most important point. These laws won’t hold up under scrutiny. So its back to the states to see what they do next.

My guess is that they’ll try to change the laws to be less blatant but indirectly do the same thing.

I know some fellow blue-staters who have taken in transgender family members who are literal refugees from the oppressive legislation and toxic levels of transphobia in Republican areas.

The one bright spot in all this is that at least this time, unlike with racism and homophobia, it didn’t take most of the non-conservatives several decades to get around to explicitly repudiating the bigotry of the conservatives.

(Another bright spot, if you’re looking for little victories in this fight, is literally a victory in a fight. Namely, the recent win of the transgender male boxer Patricio Manuel in a bout with a cisgender male boxer. For the third time running, no less.

Something to discuss with transphobes when they start bleating how biological birth sex is an irrevocable determinant of force and strength, and there’s no way that AFAB individuals can ever compete fairly with AMAB ones irrespective of transgender status.)

Or take it to SCOTUS and throw in a few fishing trips.

Ugh, yeah. A favorable verdict is only as far as the Crow flies.

I have a trans nephew in Florida who hasn’t told his parents or any other adults for fear of repercussions. I’m glad he has us to turn to, but unfortunately we live in a nearby southern state that isn’t much better than Florida.

God, that’s awful. I feel for that kid.

In my experience as an EMT, both tampons and pads can be extremely beneficial when you have major trauma. They both soak up a lot of blood.

What was that movie with the nosebleed tampon scene? She’s the Man?

~Max

Tampons are also pretty good for cleaning out a shotgun barrel, possibly the least “woke” use for a Tampon imaginable.

As a Black Rock Ranger I carry a Kotex pad and gloves in a ziplock bag. Medical response time in the city is four minutes, six for deep playa, but I have this nightmare of having someone bleed out before help can arrive.

Reading the history, they were invented by Kimberley-Clark during WWI as bandages then repurposed after Armistice Day when people stopped shooting holes in each other so often.

I must have missed something; I thought that the crowd most likely to start whining about WOOOOOOKE things used to decry tampons as tools of Satan.

I’ve heard and read that the Epoch Times is a very right-wing and pro-Trump newspaper. If that’s accurate, then this “docudrama” called Gender Transformation by the Epoch certainly seems to count. I’ve not watched it, so I’m happy to be proven wrong.

That “docudrama” is a hateful attack. Gender Transformation

I thought so just based on the description I read. I see on review I should have written “seems to count as part of the war” in my post.

I like that the people ‘’‘reviewing’‘’ that dreck, coincidentally I sure, are also in the dreck.

Oh wow, the photos of the “cast of characters” all look so angry.

Of course they’re angry. They’re constantly persecuted by having to live in a world where people they don’t like exist openly, and they’re not allowed to throw those people into permanent darkness. Anger is a natural consequence of the burden they carry daily.
