I want to ask you to tell me ideas, theories or even facts, and any kind of information you dont mind sharing in the following topic:
1, Hypothetical ways about how to destroy the world. (Also theories, any kind of destructive inventions that exist or are just thought up etc.)
2, Effective ways to save the world, also inventions that are not so public, or not in use despite their proven effectiveness ideas to create technology, that could cure our planet from the contamination etc.
And of course the reason, why I’m asking:
I am a writer, currently working on my third and fourth book right now, and my topic is generally how to save our world from destruction, also evolution and technology included, which could possibly be used in the future. Unfortunately I don’t have the budget yet to travel around gathering material, so I have to use different measures. That is why I’m asking here, where people can see my post, and answer.
So if you have any good ideas, information etc. in the topics stated before, and you really don’t mind sharing it knowing the fact that your idea might be used up in a book by another person and be published I would appreciate if you shared it with me.
About the setting: the plot is set in the near future, between the years 2020 and 2030. The protagonist is a young woman from Russia, who had her genes genetically modified by an experiment which resulted in the enhancement of her physical abilities and perception. She discovers that certain facts which could lead to destruction, or the opposite make the world a better place are covered up by certain parties who benefit of this, so she starts to work in cover, to make these facts public. So the world set out is our current world in the near future with more developed technology, and certain conflicts regarding the resources on the planet.
I wrote this to help you imagine my setting and give a hand about the ideas.
Note that this topic is only theoritical, and I don’t want any kind of trouble by posting it.

A two stage virus, the first stage is a highly contagious but asymptomatic retrovirus which is released and spreads to the majority of the population. The second stage is a chemical that is used to activate the retrovirus which can be added to the water or air which is released years later after most of the world is infected. Death is rapid and painful, and the chemical needed to activate the retrovirus could only require nanograms to kill, and be easily airborne.
A device that can can cause the supervolcano under Yellowstone to erupt, covering the US in ash and blocking out the sun.
How to save the world? If you are looking for true SciFi, benevolent aliens who view our insurmountable health care, environmental, emotional and economic problems the way we view a mouse struggling to figure out a simple maze or a chimp trying to figure out which lever to pull to get a treat, as something that doesn’t even count as a challenge.
Another method is a freeware computer program capable of very advanced cognition with can comprehend the info given to it (which is constantly growing due to all the feedback and new research in all fields), you explain a problem to it and it eventually gives you a solution after it determines one via simulations. If that software program became ever present to the point where kids in Africa had access to it on handheld devices that would lead to rapid solutions to the world’s major problems.
Humans from the future, or a parallel universe which took a more technological track in the 15th century (as opposed to our history where the industrial revolution didn’t occur until the 18th century), find a way to communicate with us and give us ideas on how to solve our problems.
Well lets see, what would you want in exchange? xD Right now I cant promise anything, but for ex. in my first published book I had help with the cover graphics from a guy who lives in the USA. So the least I could do is make sure his name was stated next to the cover of my book. But since this new book of mine is still in the state of preparing its not decided if I’ll use the ideas posted by you, whether I mostly wanted a certain line of thoughts about which way should I go with the story. I like to stay as original as I can, meaning I want to write my own thoughts.
