Almost every day, on almost every visit now.
I routinely check the Remember Me box.
Then my only guess is that your cookie file has gotten corrupted. If it happens again, I’d completely clear your cookies before logging back in and see if that helps.
I also routinely clear my cookies file. But again, it’s happened sometimes but not others. I’ve given up trying to guess why stuff happens on this Board.
Not this shit again. Do we really need to go through this every single time the thread is brought up, even though it’s never, ever helped?
Again, in a previous discussion on this, Ed said the problem was identified and not something they would be able to fix for the forseeable future. While it might be nice to know exactly what the problem is, I’m pretty confident that if the fix were something user-side, he would have mentioned it.
If you read all the posts, you’ll notice that I was offering that as a fix to Siam Sam’s problem of getting logged out despite checking the Remember Me box, not as a fix to the resetting problem. I’ve had other users complain about not being able to stay logged in and the issue in that case was indeed cookie corruption.
I don’t think we’re using “logged out” in the same sense. What he seems to be describing is the normal method of the board marking everything as read and changing the “Last Visited” time if there is no activity for 30 minutes.
As far as I am aware, the backend board software itself has little to no conception of “logging out,” it just keeps two times–“Last Visited” and “Last Activity.” As long as you keep doing something that connects to the board in some way, “Last Activity” keeps updating, and “Last Visited” stays the same.
If you manually click the “Log Out” button, “Last Visited” gets updated to that moment. If you are idle, and “Last Activity” goes past 30 minutes, then the board assumes you are gone and updates “Last Visited” to match “Last Activity.”
This is what I would refer to as the “Board logs me out.”
What I think you may be referring to would be if the browser forgets who you are or otherwise requires you to put in username and/or password. That doesn’t seem to be what he’s describing.
Every single day for the last week or so.
