Resident Alien, aka Quincy, E.T

They actually tackle quite a number of First Nations issues on this show. “My people are not a costume.” Impressive.

He does not understand human females which is highly unusual for men, so he must be an alien!

As an aside, every time I hear someone IRL refer to “females”, my brain immediately translates this into Ferengi “HYOO-MON FEE-MALES!”. Maybe it’s a sign that those people are secretly aliens.

Wondering why the Greys are bothering to install trackers in people if they’re not coming back for them. Maybe it keeps them from probing the same people again, like tagging wildlife.

I have not read through thus entire thread as I have so far only watched three episodes. (Tudyk’s body language and facial expressions are genius.)
Has anyone noted that Vanderspeigel translates to “From the mirror”?

Regarding the “is the abducted fetus one of the current characters question”:

But in the 30 year ago scene, the mother said “When Jack, or Joanie, is born…”. So in that scene they didn’t know the sex of the baby. In the early 90s, ultrasounds to find the sex of the baby were available, but it wasn’t practically automatic like it is today. So I think the insane agent woman is still a candidate.

Ben as the abducted fetus is an interesting case. It would explain why Max and the Alien Hunter have the same ability to see aliens - in TV world, if 2 complete strangers have the same genetic mutation, it’s a 50-50 shot they’re related. But we know Ben has been in Patience since at least 5th grade, since he and Darcy dated. And 30 is a little bit young for Ben - Max is 9, so he would have had to have been born when Ben was only 21. He’s mayor of the town, which again seems a bit much for a 30 year old. And Ben, Darcy and Asta are all the same age, and Asta was 16 when she had a daughter who is now 17.

What about Max? There’s nothing to say that the Greys didn’t just keep him in suspended animation for 20 years - they are assholes after all. And he was already hugely interested in space and aliens before he saw Harry - see how his room is decorated. And it would also check off the “two people with the same mutation are probably related” box. True, they’ve never mentioned that Max is adopted, but maybe it was a secret adoption (like Asta/Jay), or maybe the Greys just substituted him in a crib - remember, assholes.

Not quite the quote but yeah, that made my laugh and think at the same time.

An interesting season finale, with lots of things to explore next year. I won’t spoil anything until most of you have had a chance to catch it.

That was a lot of loose ends tied, and also a lot left open-ended.

I hope season 2 has more episodes.

That was fun. I’m looking forward to the second season and hope it’s as well done.

I enjoyed this season far more than I ever thought I would.

Finale spoilers:

“Help me Deputy, she on me like a spider!” The little girl stopping the MIB from following Max, extorting $100 from them, and attaching the phone to their bumper so they could turn the tables and follow THEM. . . There are so many great moments in each episode, and the cliffhangers are something else.

One big miscue to me, though. When Darcy rolled Jay’s father’s truck down the hill, that was insanely dangerous. They showed traffic moving through the intersection at high speed, and them there was a crash that they didn’t show. Did she just cause someone to t-bone the runaway truck? They could have staged that somewhere where it went into a lake, or showed it rolling downhill without any traffic. That was a really messed-up stunt, and it ruined the mood the director was going for. All I could thing about was, “That’s horrible! Did she just kill someone?”

Great show. Now something else needs to start up so I something to watch.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. That was some bullshit.

BTW, those weren’t MIB, they were PIC.

What I don’t understand is where Harry’s ship is. Is it near town? If so, why was he in New Mexico that time? If not, how far did Asta and Max go to follow him? (It couldn’t have been too far–the timer was counting down.) And how did Max know where he was? (Another planted cell phone?) And did the PIC move the ship to a hangar, or build a hangar around it?

I had the same thought during that scene! Instead of being all “Woo! You go Jay!” I thought, “Uh, did they just kill/seriously injure some innocent random person or at the very least crash into their car? That was fucked up. You do kinda suck now.”

So intense . Not for everyone. But I like it.

Also, it might become a plot point. Might have hit one of the black vans…

Legit concerns. The same thought crossed my mind, but I didn’t dwell on it. I thought Asta was pretty forgiving of Harry’s murderous tendencies, and the setup at the start where the real Harry killed the former doctor made Harry’s death a little less horrible. I still didn’t see a really compelling reason for Linda Hamilton’s involvement, and Max’s parents fighting off the intruders was pretty awesome. Just when Harry thinks he’s made a clean getaway, Max the stowaway appears, which was predictable but still pretty funny. Sahar is another great character, the “brains of the outfit.” Looking forward to season 2!

Here’s an interview with the showrunner about the final episode and next season’s plans.

Thought it was fantastic - and would have made a great series finale if they had to go that way.

re: Asta - it was a pretty specific switch back - but I think she was just playing him to get him to ‘not’ kill everyone - not lying - but doing what it takes to survive. That Harry was (obviously) having second thoughts just made it that much easier.

Loved the little smile on Deputy Liv’s face.

Loved them kidnapping the wrong doctor And our dastardly duo getting panned.

Had to rewind the opening scene -that was a hellofa thing - so now we know 3 things about HHarry - that 2 men came to find him in new york, that he was a research doctor and that he killed Dr. Hodges (Sam). I wonder if they will keep that story line afloat and tell us “why” ?

I can’t wait for season 2.

Nothing really to add except, great season finale. Agree with all of the above.

Now I’m wondering if Annoying New Town Doctor is about 30 years old…

Well, they can’t just ignore it. One assumes. It’s always still possible that Sam’s wife was part of the plot, but in any case as things stand she’s probably going to be tried for his murder. That would be a huge deal in a little town like Patience.

The mystery of Human Harry and his motives would keep season 2 running pretty well, unless they decide to solve it in the premiere and turn to Linda Hamilton or some other thread. They’ve given themselves a lot of running room!

If Sam’s wife was part of the plot, then she would certainly turn on Harry. Yeah, it’s nice that we know Sam was a murderer and croaking him doesn’t seem so bad (they did mention karma); but now Harry 2.0 will be blamed for the murder he didn’t commit. (Karma again?)
