Resident Alien, aka Quincy, E.T

Darren_Garrison posted the trailer for the 8/10 “return” episode on 7/1.

According to every website I found, the second half will be another 8 episodes:

Resident Alien: Season Two Return Date Announced by Syfy (Watch) - canceled + renewed TV shows, ratings - TV Series Finale.

That doesn’t make any sense though - didn’t they have all the episodes in the bag before airing the first one? And tons of shows are doing the “split a season into 2 chunks a few months apart”:

Correct. That means a season of sixteen episodes, as opposed to the ten of season 1:

I’m trying to figure out how to write “this is some bullshit” the way Harry says it

Well, It’s abundantly clear that I don’t know shit and can’t find shit with both hands and a shit detector. IMDB show 2 shows, that’s what I went off of.

this is some bullshit”

I watched the ninth episode last week and started to watch (but didn’t finish yet) the tenth episode this week. And I noticed that, even though these episodes were set in the town, we haven’t seen Max, the kid who’s been hanging around Harry, and his friend Sahar. The first half of this season was mostly set in New York City, so their absence was less obvious but it’s more so now. My guess is that the actors hit that adolescent growth spurt, so they’re older and bigger in real life than the characters are meant to be. But they were a fun element to the show.

?

I’m not sure which episodes you just watched, but both of them were in the one broadcast last night, the most recent.

I don’t suppose you read the first sentence of the post you partially quoted, in which I said I “started to watch (but didn’t finish yet) the tenth episode this week”?

From imdb:
Season 2, episode 10

Max and Sihar had a ton of screen time in the first 5 episodes of this season - first Max was on Harry’s ship, which was why he had to return, then there was the whole plot where Max stole the alien ball and started going through early puberty, then there was the Family day episode where Harry kidnapped the dog Sihar was dogsitting to blackmail them into returning the ball. They weren’t in episodes 6-8 because as you said, 6 & 7 were Harry & Asta in New York, then 8 was when they returned and it went immediately to the surprise birthday party at Harry’s house.

This is the rare show where I actually LIKE the kids, and look forward to them being on the show. Great casting, and they’re well-utilized. Last night I was thinking, “haven’t seen the kids in awhile, where are they?” and literally the next scene, they’re back.

With what they’re up to now, I expect to see a lot of them for the rest of the season.

Yes, particularly if the alien baby can change human-form at will. Max’s special ability (to see aliens as they are) will be very useful.

And I hope they will address the question of whether not Max can see the OTHER type of aliens: the ones with the nictating extra eyelids.

(I’ve enjoyed the new episodes, but as always: we need more Harry and less of the other characters. My interest in the mayor and his wife, for example, is waning fast, as much as I do like Max.)

I enjoyed the touch of Warren Zevon.

That’s definitely the case for Sahar. She much have grown 5 or 6 inches since the last season. Max, not so much, so it’s really noticeable when you see them together.

Yes, and the Quirky Cops are too quirky. I think that the show would be better if the side characters were played straight/realistic. Big Black and White are basically sitcom characters.

I agree with this, though I will take that pair over the ‘marriage woes’ pair.

So I finally finished season 2. I’m very glad there will be a season 3.
I now also have Peacock for a year for only $20. Worth it I guess.

I like the quicky cops. The Sherriff is so batshit crazy it helps cover for all the weird things Harry does. Harry is only the second weirdest resident.

I also dislike most of the time spent on Mayor & wife. The mayor in particular is the only really bad character on the show. I wonder if it is strictly the script or the actor?

I’ve been wondering the same thing.

Can’t it be both, like the late Earl Warren?
