Noticed twinkies with chocolate creme filling in my local grocery store today. I guess these have been out for a while but this is the first time I’ve seen them here. I don’t even like normal twinkies all that much (haven’t bought them in years) but I like chocolate and I like novelty foods (why yes, I sought out the fried snickers tent at the fair). My expectations for this twinkie were set low by this blogger’s review panning them, but I just tried one and actually I love the fluffy chocolatey creme filling in them. If these were a normal twinkie flavor, I’d probably buy them regularly, but alas they are a “limited time only” product.
(Although I admit that’s probably for the best in terms of public health)
They brought out banana flavor a few years ago. Sadly, not flavored with real bananas. I’d love to give the chocolate ones a try. I’ll have to remember to look for them when I’m out shopping.
The original filling was banana, so in this case, it came back.
I still miss Chocodiles, which were basically chocolate-covered Twinkies.
OMG! I have to go comb the stores for these. Of course I will need the perfect disguise since I can’t be seen purchasing such an item. I will proudly carry the economy pack of glow in the dark, flavored, ribbed condoms to the cash register, but I cannot bear to let anyone see me give into the the lure of Hostess products. They are my secret hidden passion. FOODGASM!
I almost snorted iced tea through my nose when I read this post! One of the funniest I’ve read in quite a while. Foodgasm will be my new watchword.
Ooh! Must look for those! I remember when they brought out the strawberry Twinkies, those were good… Banana not so much. I know the originals were banana flavored, but in general anything banana flavored = gak.
Chocolate Cream Twinkies?!? I haven’t heard of them until now. I must find them…
I stopped liking Twinkies when the filling changed to a marshmallowy filling instead of the old whipped-up frosting filling. This might make it worth trying them again.
Well, yes, but the first time it was actually flavored with bananas, which became rationed during WW II. When they brought them back, it was artificially flavored, so not really the same, IMO.
