Now, if the poll took frequency into account –

There are several places listed that I’ve only been to once or twice. But there are five where I eat at least once a month: Chipotle, Panera Bread, Boston Market, Subway, and Noodles & Company. These are a step above burgers-and-fries fast food. (So is Cosi, but the nearest one is ten miles away. )

Indeed. I only checked six of the choices but most were “yeah, I guess I’ve bought food there at least once in the last two years,” and only two were regulars: Subway and Tim Hortons.

Subway because they have decent on-the-go food, served fast for minimal price, and Tim Hortons because I really like their whole-grain panini sandwiches.

Regionally (SE Michigan) we have Rallys, Halo Burger and Angelo’s, all of which serve up excellent burgers and other fast-food fare better than the big chains.

Little Nemo, what was your criterion for which chains to include in the poll? Did you just list all the fast-food-ish chains you personally could think of, or was there some deeper logic or research behind the list?

I found some online lists of chains and consolidated them. I did a quick check on Wikipedia for the ones I wasn’t familiar with.

I would have had one more vote if Culver’s had made the list. Yum!

Interesting to note the close race between McDonalds and Subway and the bigger than I expected gap between KFC and Chick-Fil-A.

I do most of my fast-food eating (sans Subway) when I’m on trips for work. I don’t exactly go wild with my per diem.
