Restaurant food fads you wish would come back again

Inspired by this thread.

What are the restaurant food fads of old you’d love to see back again?

For me, it’s deep fried zucchini sticks, and salad bars.

Also, remember those little mints you would get after your meal? They were probably about 1 cm square and slightly pillow-shaped (i.e. the top and bottom were slightly puffy), came in pink, white, yellow, and green, and they were somewhat hard but they melted quickly in your mouth, although you could easily bite them if you wanted. They weren’t wrapped in anything, but I think the server would just dump a handful on the little tray the bill comes on.

Aha! Here they are. I loved those.

Didn’t the salad bar fad come to a grinding halt when disease-spreading became a concern? There are still several chains which have them-Jason’s Deli for one.

Jason’s Deli, Sonny’s Real Pit Barbecue, Ruby Tuesday’s, and Steak and Ale are all chains that still have salad bars, as well as the excellent Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation chain that specializes in all-you-can-eat salad bar and fresh soups and baked goods.

Does hot babes on roller skates bringing food to your car window count?

I remember when you’d usually be served water in addition to your chosen beverage in most restaurants, without having to ask for it. Not sure if that counts as a fad, but I miss it.
