Restaurant Staff Chewing Gum

I’ve noticed a trend in recent years of waiters, waitresses, hosts, and bus boys chewing gum as they work, and I’m including those who bring my order. They seem completely oblivious to how repulsive the sight is. These are always the casual restaurants, such as Ruby Tuesday, TGI Fridays, Olive Garden, etc. I don’t see this in fine restaurants.

My question: isn’t gum chewing considered a health violation–or at least isn’t it frowned upon by corporate headquarters and restaurant managers?

This is a IMHO if I ever saw one.
Is chewing gum repulsive?
Nah.
Would it be nicer if they didn’t chew gum?
Sure, I guess.
Peace,
mangeorge (Doesn’t chew gum.)
