So does anyone here have experiance with non-surgicalforeskin_restoration? If so what what method do/did you use? Tape or a tapeless device? If you were circumsized as an adult (or teenager) how does the “finished product” compare with the original? How long did it take you to accomplish restoration? Does anyone have experiance with surgical restoration (everything I’ve read about it indicates it’s risky and the results are highly unsatisfactory).
Search the SDMB archives for member “Jack Dean Tyler” or search criterion “Tug-Ahoy” and you’ll learn more than you ever wanted to know on the subject!
Oh Lord. Yes. Do that search.
I don’t mean to be rude, but can I just say that everyone time I read the title to this thread, I get the eebies.
I’ve said most of this before, but anyway:
I do taping, both T and cross, and have been for eleven months, three weeks, and two days.
If you haven’t already read about those two methods, T-taping is the most popular and most effective. In essence, you make a T shape out of surgical tape with the top of the T being sticky, affix it to your scar line, attach the non-sticky end to a length of elastic, and stretch it, usually around your hips. Cross-taping it less effective since it doesn’t provide nearly the same level of stretching but it’s also less confining. Very simply, you just pull up your foreskin and tape it in place.
What tape you use is a personal preference. I can’t claim to have tried them all, but I’m very satisfied with Nexcare waterproof foam tape. It’s very sticky, even on skin that’s not absolutely dry, and holds a good length of time—I get between 8 and 10 hours of use out of it. That’s for T-taping; for cross-taping, anything will work.
Expect it to take between two and three years, somewhat less if you’re exclusively doing T-taping. Nine months, I think, is the record.
The first couple weeks will seem to fly by, with great progress, but that’s deceptive. At that stage, you’re just stretching. You won’t start to be growing new skin until you’ve stretched what you’ve got to its maximum. After that, progress will be slow, so take pictures if you want to be able to visibly compare where you are to where you’ve been, maybe one at the end of every month.
I’m almost a year in, or a third of the way done according to the high-end of the average. I started with my foreskin ending in a small bunch just under my glans, more on the left than on the right. Now, I’ve mostly evened it out and there’s enough to lap over base of the glans and go up about a quarter of the way when standing and half the way when sitting.
All nonsurgical methods, at their heart, are just methods of tissue expansion. The only difference it how they accomplish it. They do require that you have at least some foreskin to start with, otherwise there’s nothing to grow new cells from. If you were circumcised so tightly that you can’t grab any between your fingers, it may not be possible for you, in which case reconstructive surgery is probably your only option.
Can any skin be extended in this way? Suppose I want an honest-to-goodness kangaroo pouch - can I just fold and tape the skin on my belly and push the pocket a little deeper every day?
We won’t know until you try, but I’m betting yes. You can extend your earlobes or lips with those disks and rings some African tribes use, if you’re really fat you get bags of skin when you lose weight. I say go for it.
Actually, a kangaroo pouch is going to collect stinky fluff and generally require too much maintenance - Maybe I’ll try for a cleft chin instead.
Could you transplant an eyelid? It would be great to have built-in contraception.
Thanks Dusty. I’m thinking of getting a T-Tape kit from Restore Yourself!. Anybody have any experiance with them (or any other T-Tape manufacturer)? I think I’d rather buy a kit then try to cobble my own system. I have enough skin left that I can pull it and cover my glans when flaccid. One thing, is the setup comfortable if you get an erection while wearing it?
I didn’t know you could restore it. I heard the doctors saved all the foreskins and donated them to the Magic Wallet Association. If you rub the wallets a couple times they turn into suitcases!
Sorry.
For T-taping, erections are no problem. For cross-taping, they may be to start with, until you’ve grown enough foreskin that it alone can stretch over your glans without pulling any shaft skin with it. Be sure not to get any hair stuck in the tape.
Wow…
First time for me on the SDMB to have a post make my eyes water…
[hijack]Well, just to play devils advocate, one of the funnier things I’ve ever read about cutting off excess foreskin just in case…[/hijack]
I fear I will never cease to be thoroughly baffled by this concept.
I heard somewhere that Silly Putty works well.
I think that’s called “Silly Putzy.”
Dear alphaboi867,
I would respectfully suggest that any problems WRT your sex life that you think can be “cured” by a foreskin “restoration” exist solely between your ears and not in your pants.
Regards,
Common sense
 I’m not even a guy, and the thought of taping up my naughty bits to stretch the skin makes me curl up like a boiled shrimp.
Heh. I’ll bet it has that effect on the men, too!
