OK all you poker players, don’t be rude! Get in the game, nothing could be more grim than having a small crowd at our (hopefully) first “real money” tourney.
It would be rude of me not to show up, so I’ll be my usual grim self.
I’m going to be rude and blow off the night, to set about to the grim duty of much-needed typing.
Geez, last week and this week, both. I do plan to come back, Pokertropolis and all. Unfortunately, the specter of layoffs is starting to materialize at work, as well as the promise of an upcoming evaluation and accompanying raise. I want to fight off the first, and get as whopping a raise as possible. So I’m a busy boy lately. 
As usual, put me down as a likely, but not definite, candidate.
I’m really interested in how PTrop will work. (Me, I’m hoping for “well” 
)
I’m gonna give it my best effort tonight…I got a few things working against me:
- Two sick kids.
- A leak in my sprinkler system that I should have fixed before this weekend.
- Packing for our trip this weekend.
- Golf lessons this afternoon for my not sick third kid.
- Followed up by my not sick third kid tutoring.
I’ll be cuttin’ it Reeeeeel Close.
I’m going to try, if there is still room. Pokertropolis with a 20 buck deposit and a 10 cent tourney fee, correct?
Correct…Hopefully there’s no wait after you deposit your $$$$…
Here are the results, but given the amount of problems people had in getting in, and the fact that there were only 4 actual players, we’re all amenable to calling this week practice.

The PokerTropolis worked well for those of us who could get on.
A few observations:
Unlike PokerRoom where we can just say “Start” when we get everybody together, this thing runs on a timer. And after the game starts, evidently that’s the absolute cut off. So be prepared. I came be-boppin’ in with just a couple of minutes to spare, Yeti was cuttin’ it close, too.
The software runs smooth, but a few things are different. There is no running “hand history”, you can’t go back and look to see what your hole cards were if you muched them pre-flop. You can’t scroll up and see what came at flop, turn, river. There are no avatars. I think the seats are assigned by the program, we were all at one end of the table. Looked like a clock-wise fill from the 1 O’Clock seat determined by what order you got in.
The auto increasing blinds are the shiznit! It will work a lot better with a full table than with 4, me and X Ray were gone after just one, maybe 2, blind increases. This made for heads-up play for Yeti and Kyy with still pretty small blinds.
It even has a programmed break after about 4 or 5 blind increases…
Big thanks to ** x-ray vision** for setting all this up. When we get the hang of it, it’ll be great.
Turns out I’m not using Neteller to fund myself:

So either I’ll need to send a check to X or find a different way to fund myself.
I guess moving is not an option at the moment, so I’d take X up on his gracious offer. Shoot, I was funded before I even mailed my check.
Once I got the hang of Pokertropolis, it was pretty good…We got a 5 minute break after 60 minutes of play, and the timer for raising the blinds was nice too. It will be even better when we get a full table, as others have pointed out.
We may even want to start a new thread so we can attract more Dopers to this new setup.
And x, one of us should/will open it so you won’t get your hand slapped.
