Holy randy grannies! STD’s running rampant in retirement communities.
Hey, I may start to look foward to retirement!!
I have this mental image of Granny from the old Playboy cartoons brandishing a bottle of Viagra and a martini.

Hit the nail right on the head! Man, that’s nasty!
Maybe I’ll think differently when I’m older, but that better be one hell of a strong martini.
Good for them! I can’t wait now!
I see absolutely no reason they shouldn’t have fun while they can just because some people are icked out about Old People Having Sex.
I noticed that they’ve started adding the caveat in their ads that Viagra does not confer protection against STDs.
???
Why would you think it would???
I know another reason why STDs might be increasing in older folks, which I’ve never seen addressed anywhere. I’d really like to see it addressed in safe sex education. As men age, condoms become problematic. Putting one on and keeping one on require that a mostly-full erection can be achieved and maintained. IME, there are several tried-on but empty condoms scattered about, and flagging morale ensues. Sometimes it’s just not even worth the hassle. I’m all for safe sex, but wonder if there’s some trick to this that will help at midlife and beyond. The alternative is some pretty unsatisfactory couplings.
Don’t think I want to know how you’ve experienced this bit of knowledge.
Viagra?
Soon as it’s not worth the hassle, please put me on the next ice flow headed out to sea.
I think you might misunderstand. When not using a condom, the ups and downs just require a little patience. But the effort and failures involved with using a condom at this age contribute to a greater problem, and the option of intercourse with a condom becomes a moot point…well, you know. My guess is that many older folks just toss out the condoms and have unprotected sex.
It’s not that, it’s the STD’s mixed with grilled cheese that gives me the ick factor.
My guess is that many older folks lived in an entirely different time and never even considered using a condom.
Older people still have the capacity to take an interest in their changing world, and to keep current on health issues. A person would have to be pretty darned isolated to have missed hearing about the AIDS epidemic and the need for protection. Clearly, public health info geared toward our aging demographic needs to be more available.
There is a product called a female condom that might be of interest to **brightpenny ** and his dates. The brand name is Reality.
I disagree-in their day, the pill wasn’t available, so if you wanted birth control, condoms were all you had.
Well, there’s no reason NOW that they should be worrying about birth control!
Unless there’s some rich old fella there with a hot young trophy-wife.
As a geezer of long standing I am aware of the community. It is huge and people drive around in golf carts. They have bowling leagues, softball leagues for age groups 50s,60s,70s. .There are a bunch of golf courses ,swimming pools and work out rooms. There are clubs of all types Opera, country and western,DEmocrat, republican, book clubs chess clubs etc. There apparently are other activities to engage in. Dont you wish you were over 50.
LOL, I’m not the one with flagging um… morale; I’m a single woman. The female condom is an interesting alternative, but I doubt it would be widely used by older women.
Agreed. Some day these young whippersnapers are going to wake up, look around themselves, and say “What the hell have I been missing?”
Companionship is one thing. Chasing pussy is another. Takes time from a males life and also mental concentration on the other finer things in life.
Another geezers outlook.
Another oldster here. I’m happily married, but I would like to know where that retirement community is located just in case my 93 year old mother’s boyfriend passes on. She’s in a Southern assisted care facility and doesn’t like being called a hussy.
It’s near Orlando. It’s a complete community just for old(er) folks:
