What Mangetout said. This message board is run by a newspaper and they have a serious CYA mentality when it comes to potential copyright violations here. Filesharing programs such as Morpheus, KaZaA, et al. are pretty much verboten topics here. MP3s are a borderline topic because of their potential to be traded via one of the aforementioned programs or something similar. Threads on the subject of how to use P2P programs are routinely shut down when spotted by the first Mod by. Threads asking where to find a piece of music but not specifically P2P might be allowed to stay open but most regs know how they can easily devolve into a P2P discussion so they die out pretty quickly anyway. What all this boils down to is that it’s best to keep the MP3/P2P discussions to message boards that aren’t so conscious of the potential illegal aspect.

It sounds like you feel like something you believe in will be justified if you get banned. I don’t particularly care what it is, as long as you get it resolved one way or another before too annoyingly long.
If you are going to shape up, get cracking. If you are going to flame out and cause the magic B-word to appear under your user name, get to it, and give the hamsters a break.
Shape up or piss off. I don’t much care which, as long as it’s sudden.

But yes, he’s obviously trying to get banned so that he can stroke his own ego about being unjustly persecuted by philistines rather than admitting to himself that he’s a rather unpleasant individual who finds it easier to antagonize people than to try and interact in a civil manner. In which case he ought to just love the previous sentence. :rolleyes:
I vote we don’t ban him until it becomes absolutely necessary. It’ll annoy him more.

Coldy suggests that he read a different “forum”, not a different message board, which is how Mr. Mytear4you seems to want to take it. Oh, well. I’m curious-- why is the linked page any worse than potty-talk in the pit? It’s not like the real name of the poster was mentioned. I think it’s pretty childish, too, but I don’t anything extra-bad was added by putting it outside the SDMB.

difference between saying something directly to some one vs. whispering behind their back or posting anonymously somewhere. “so and so is a doody head”.
one would hope that as adults we all understand that not everyone is going to like us, but would hopefully have the maturity to deal with it openly vs. what was done. one hopes, but one is often mistaken.
