Reviews of Trader Joe's products

I go to TJs at least once a week. The have lots of delicious stuff, but I have to say their “Kale Chips” are pretty nasty. I like kale, especially in the Bistro Salad, but those “chips”…blech!

Holding up Texas as a bastion of science does not give me great confidence in your credibility.
However, to address your concerns, this thread is not about the health merits of TJs products vs other stores. It’s clearly just a group of folks sharing what they like.

If you’d like to debate the merits of TJs product why not start a thread on the subject?

Well, looks like I found this week’s supply of nutter butter.

Espiral Vinho Verde: $5 a bottle for the perfect summer drinking wine.

Plantain Chips: These are thicker than normal plantain chips, which is good because I use them as substitutes for nachos since I stopped eating corn.

Their wild-caught smoked salmon and almond butter are cheaper than anywhere else I can find those two products, and just as good.

That, and I stayed up all night last night and *still *didn’t see them doing any science.

I fell in love with TJ’s while attending college in California. I live in south-central Texas and am beside myself with joy that TJ’s will be opening a store in my town very soon. “Yah boo sux!” to h8rs. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh no, he found me out! I registered and posted 4,000 times over ten years to lull you all into complacence, so I could finally make my move and shill for my employer Trader Joe’s and give you all cancer! Muahahahahaha!!!

Vinyl Turnip, I foresee many sleepless nights for you. May I suggest TJ’s English Breakfast tea (now with more uranium!).

We just pretty recently moved near a TJ so we haven’t explored too much yet:

edamame hummus
mutigrain crackers (so cheap so good)
kettle corn cookies (crack)
bf really liked the chicken sausages - someone else has mentioned these
we always buy a bottle of random wine

Generally we just like the more interesting selection in the frozen foods but we haven’t bought much yet. We are also near a Whole Foods we haven’t and maybe never will go to, 2 other large local chain groceries, super Target, and World Market.

TJ $3 six pack beer is not good (surprised?)
veggie chips gross, zero flavor, ones from Aldi and Sams/Costco way better

I did buy a random chocolate bar near the checkout, don’t remember the type but it said something about cookie filling, it had some creamy filling on the inside and it was damn delicious

I just saw a product at the Daly City, CA store called Cookie Butter. Has anyone seen or tried this?

I just had some of their pre-packaged raw ground turkey - at $2.99 a pound, two bucks cheaper than Safeway (Jennie-O) and much better quality, at least this purchase.

**Arancini! **

and the** fresh turkey meatballs**, although I haven’t seen them for a few months at the local TJ. These are honestly some of the best meatballs I’ve had, ever.

Your link goes to a YouTube video. Is that right?

I’m thrilled that this zombie thread resurfaced, both because it was reanimated by an amusing crazy person, and because I just had two things at TJs that were so ridiculously good that they’re curing cancer.

Jalapeno Cilantro hummus- best! hummus! ever! There as glob of cilantro stuff in the center that has an Indian flavor to it and it is awesome!

Guiltless Guacamole- it’s made with Greek yogurt and avocado and tastes just like regular guacamole. But, you know, guiltless. I like to guiltlessly eat it with corn chips covered in melted cheese! (The chips made with genetically modified corn if possible.)

Okay, I’ve made my appearance in this thread, back to toiling in the Trader Joe mines until called upon again for my turn to post positive reviews.

Um, not intended. Correct link : http://blogs.sfweekly.com/foodie/2012/09/cookie_butter_trader_joes_evil.php

Joe

Oh,it’s Biscoff spread! Supposed to be good- sweet, but good.

Fleur De Sel Caramels - If you like caramels at all, these are a must. These might be the best soft caramels I’ve had. Good stuff.

Thai Chili-Lime Cashews
Organic Veggie Burritos (freezer case)
Organic Veggie Chili
Precooked brown or jasmine rice (3 minutes in the microwave and perfectly cooked)
Castello Blue cheese - perfect on any decent cracker.

Not much of a review, but the items I mentioned are wonderful bachelor food.

I havent seen the Thai Chili Lime Cashews in ages. Do they still make them? They were a favorite. I should bug the local TJs to bring them back… I bet they are god-awfully expensive. The price of all the TJs nuts sky rocketted over the last few years.

We don’t have a Trader Joe’s within hundreds of miles of here. But we went to one when visiting my brother in NC last month, and we loved EVERYTHING we bought. My favorite were the dark-chocolate covered coconut balls. Not sure if they could be called macaroons. They were insanely good. We also got some of the triple brie there. I don’t even usually like brie but it was so delicious. And it was only a couple dollars. The only thing we didn’t like were the sesame-seed covered almonds.

I also had their peanut butter-filled pretzel bites and black liquorice - aweome!

What is this, I don’t even …

Well, that’s because you didn’t try the dark-chocolate salted almonds. Those are fantastic. We also enjoy the gorgonzola crackers.

We have to stock up on both things when we go by a Trader Joe’s, since the nearest one is two hours away, and the one where our daughter goes to grad school is three hours away. I’m glad to see this thread freshly revived, too .. we’ll be stopping by a TJs in two weeks, and now I have some good ideas for new stuff!
