Rick and Morty -- the new animated show from Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland

Happy Ricksgiving, beyotches!

The gesture I’m making means “Peace Between Worlds”

Blow me.

Keep Summer safe.

SUMMER: “You know you’re kind of a dick, right?”
SHIP: “My function is to keep Summer safe, not to keep Summer ‘being, like, totally stoked about, like, the general vibe and stuff.’ That’s you. That’s how you talk.”

I don’t have cable at the moment so I am a little out of touch. Are there new episodes?

Nope. Probably not for several years.

In Bird culture, not having new episodes for several years is considered a dick move.

“Wubba Lubba dub-dub” means “I am in great pain - I need new episodes”

The official soundtrack for the series dropped on Friday. It’s 26 tracks, and it’s a mix of instrumental pieces from various episodes, Rick’s songs, pre-existing songs that featured on the show (such as “Look On Down From the Bridge” by Mazzy Star), and a new orchestral medley based on the show’s theme.

Also, an original single by hip-hop group clipping. that samples several songs from the show, with the colorful title “Stab Him In the Throat”.

I picked it up at Walmart on Friday as an impulse buy. It’s a fun listen, the packaging/sleeve art is rather creative, and it comes with a poster! It’s worth a buy if you still buy music on physical media.

I think the question that everyone is thinking is does it have Terryfold?

Indeed it does.

Doo-doo butt?

Is it really that long?

About a year or so ago I recall reading that the issue was Comedy Central did not have a good plan in place to monetize the show. Apparently they were surprised by the success of Gravity Falls and failed to capitalize on all the ways they could make money from it.

Supposedly the same has happened for Rick & Morty so the network put the brakes on till they could manage to find a million ways to make money off of it.

IIRC new shows would appear in late 2018 or sometime in 2019.

Several years seems nuts though.

Is this a Comedy Central over seas? I don’t think either of those shows air on CC in the US, do they?

Late 2019 is what I read.

It’s on there too, under the name “Father’s and Daughters”.Other highlights include a remix of “Get Schwifty” and an extended version of “Human Music”.

Bwuh?? That can’t be right. Gravity Falls was from Disney; Rick and Morty is from Williams Street (Turner) and airs on Adult Swim. Completely different corporate masters, neither of which is connected to Comedy Central (Viacom). And there’s been tons of Rick and Morty merchandise available since at least the gap between seasons 2 and 3.

According to an interview with Harmon, he and Roiland were holding out for the massive 70 episode order to give them more creative freedom and job security. While negotiating, they were not working on the show at all. The renewal order came less than 5 months ago (May 2018), so it’s going to take time to get the pipeline flowing again.

If Rick and Morty was anime.

That is… deeply troubling.
