Half the season you deserve. All the season we could handle.
Gear-head guy? That’s like calling a Chinese person “Asia-face” !
“We’ve got a Carrot-Top situation going down behind the mall.”

I thought they said “Akira situation.”
Hmm. Not sure I get either of those references.
Yeah, yeah. Don’t break an arm jerking yourself off.
The Akira one would definitely fit R&M style:
If it’s Carrot Top, I assume stupid props are involved.
Eta: I hear “Akira”.
I heard Akira but I think Carrot-Top makes it funnier and more frightening at the same time.
The confusion is because they actually say “Akira type situation”.
Totally. But I think a police scanner saying “we’ve got a Carrot-Top situation going down behind the mall” is a much funnier and somehow much more sinister line and I think it would have fit perfectly with the shows oeuvre. I’m kind of disappointed, now, that they went for the easy Akira reference rather than the imaginatively oblique Carrot-Top invocation.
I’m sure they’ll do a good job on the Akira thing. Akira might be the new Cronenberg.
I guess a Carrot Top situation might be some wormhole suddenly opening and dumping mountains of pun like objects.
I’m sticking with Carrot Top until the episode airs.
I don’t think i ever made the connection before of The Council of Ricks and the Council of Reeds (Richards)
Just a reminder that the new season starts this weekend.
Yup - Sunday night at 11:30pm EST, I believe.
Apparently Hulu and HBO Max will get the new episodes, but only 5 months after the season finale: 'Rick and Morty' to Stream on HBO Max - Variety
If you’re a cord cutter like me, you can buy the season on Amazon.
Does such a short season mean we’ll get more within the year?
So I was (am) a big fan of R&M. The second season episode where they are locked-down in the house with all the characters with fake memories–at least at one point in that episode, I was laughing so hard I had to shut it off and walk around outside to regain my composure. Probably the hardest I’ve ever laughed at anything.
…but last season, the show leaked across Reddit like a bad meme, and the fans there really did a lot towards ruining the show for me. For the first two seasons, there was some high-minded nuanced discussions breaking down elements of the episodes, which often contain extreme emotional depth. The Unity episode with the failed suicide at the end…stuff like that generated really great conversations. But then last season happened, and it’s just idiots screaming “I’M PICKLE RICK!!!” everywhere they can, like in political forums or anywhere else they could force it in.
I don’t think it helps that the season had no definitive conclusion…iIrc the creators bickered or nitpicked the final episodes to a point they scrapped them, so the planned conclusion was replaced with just a middling episode.
I’m sure I’m sounding like a “get of my lawn” type, but believe me, the reddit contingency has a habit of being so obnoxious it can turn you off in a hurry. I have it as well quarantined as I can, so I’m hoping I can get back to fully enjoying the show, and I hope this season is as good as the hype.
I think so. This is the first half of the season. More in the Spring maybe.
I would just ignore everything but the show. I thought season 3 was great, but I will at least agree that Pickle Rick is not as great an episode as some people think.
Maybe this will be the place to come for constructive episode discussions.
Only place I would go. I’m on reddit, but never visit the R&M subreddit.
