Riddle?

What’s the only US city spelled completely with vowels?

There’s always another beer.

How the fuck should I know?

I’m Canadian. We have problems of our own.

According to the Pope, a woman can be a saint, but not a priest.

Aiea - approximately 12 miles northwest of Honolulu, Hawaii.

One complete set of morals for sale to highest bidder, new in box.

I used to live in Aiea, pronounced Eye-AY-Ah (AY is long A). About 15,000, it’s pretty much a suburb of Honolulu north of Pearl Harbor. Aloha Stadium is there (home of the Pro Bowl and the UH Rainbow Warriors).

One Aiea attraction is Pearlridge Mall, where the mall is in 2 wings connected by a monorail. Loads of fun, but it’s quicker just to walk between the two sections.

If you’re a vowel fan, make a visit to Kaaawa (pronounced Kah-ah-ah-va). In Hawaiian, the “W” is pronounced like a “V”, unless it’s the first letter. So the state is pronounced “Havaii”. Official spelling is Hawai’i (with the glottal stop, called okina).

OK, now, next question: what’s the only American City spelled entirely with consonants?

Answer: New York. They don’t pronounce any of the vowels anyway.

Sorry.

Tourist: Is it pronounced *Ha-wai-i[/] or Ha-vai-i?

Hawaiian: Ha-vai-i

Tourist: Thank you.

Hawaiian: You’re Velcome.

Dammit! I didn’t think it would be that easy.
