Riders Rule!!!

Saskatchewan Roughriders - undefeated in the pre-season!

(Last week’s home game against BC: 19-14; last night’s in Edmonton: 24-9)

When was the last time we could say that??! Now, it’s just pre-season games, I know, and all the teams are trying out players and not necessarily their best, yadda, yadda, yadda, BUT - undefeated???!!

[optimistic voice] Dare we say that this might be a good season? [/optimistic voice]

[pessimistic voice]You’re gonna jinx it![/pessimistic voice]

[optimistic voice]I don’t care! GO RIDERS!!![/optimistic voice]

All together now: “Green is the colour, football is the game
We’re all together and winning is our aim.
Cheer us on through the sun and rain
Saskatchewan Roughriders is our name”

Well you knew I had to post here. ;)…hmmm maybe I need to have a bet with a certain doper for chocolate…since the Eskies suck this year…hmmm whatcha say Sue???

Keith

A little gun shy on a Bombers/Riders bet, are you, NP?

You lost your shirt last time, as I recall.

Not gun shy, no, Pipeliner - the ambiguity you’re detecting is just the normal uncertainy caused by an unusual event: how to respond to a sweep of the pre-season! Now, if they’d lost, I would know what to do: assume the best. But actually winning - hmmm, I hope they haven’t used up their quota for the season.

Go Als, Go !!!

::d&r:: :smiley:

no need for the d&r, detop - when for some reason the Riders didn’t make it to the Grey Cup last year, I was cheering for the Als at McMahon Stadium (of course, I was waving my Rider flag to do it, which some people found confusing)

BTW, the Beloved and I already have our tickets for Grey Cup in Montreal this year (I’ll wear a hard hat in case the Big Owe finally gives up the ghost)

Does that mean we should start planning a November Dopefest ?

BTW, they announced today that 57,000 tickets were already sold.

Depends on the Beloved. She’s got this weird idea that you can’t trust people you meet on the net. I keep telling her Dopers are different (“But Honey, they’re perfectly normal people, really smart, who just spend all their lives staring at a screen and arguing with people they’ve never met. Not an axe-murderer amongst them! (That we know of, at least.)”)

For some reason, she’s not convinced. But maybe if it’s in the context of a Grey Cup, where we’re surrounded by 40,000 of our closest friends getting blotto, she might ease up a bit.

Talk it up, and we’ll see…

You poor bastard.

Although… Me thinks the Eskies will stumble along to a .500 record - along with the Riders this year.

The champion BC Lions may be the odd team out this year.
They look pretty ordinary so far this season.

Go Eskies!

How did I ever miss this opportunity to humbly ask Odie to

BITE ME!

[sub]damn riders fans…gloating over their victory over our beloved green and gold…aaargh![/sub]

Okay, I’m not quite sure how to put this:

“Riders tied for first place.”

or,

“Riders - only undefeated team in the CFL (counting pre-season).”

Hmmmm. Both of those just are too unaccustomed for Rider ears, almost bragging. Don’t want to jinx things.
Maybe simplest is best:
“RIDERS WIN HOME OPENER OVER TI-CATS, 30-28”
Yeah, that works.

That’s  !
[sub]seriously, I’m half-expecting newts to rain from the skies and the moon to turn blood-red - is this the beginning of the apocalypse?[/sub]

Did I mention it was on the last play of the game, with a field goal by Paul McCallum, on a really hot prairie night? Right down to the wire.

Okay, so last week’s game against the Eskimos was not a success. Again, it went down to a field goal, but McCallum missed, drat it!! At least we got a rouge out of it, and held the Eskimos to only one touchdown. It was hardly worth going to Edmonton to watch. (Plus, the constant threat of lightning - yikes!)

Final score: Esks 13, Riders 11

That’s D) :frowning:

Perhaps tonight’s game will bet better. The Beloved and I have tickets right behind the Riders bench, so we might get on TSN. Look for the two with jersys on.

The Beloved and I are back home, and preparing for tonight’s game.

Last week’s was good - friendly fans at BC Place, reasonably entertaining game, and a Rider win!

That’s  :frowning:

Tonight’s game at Taylor Field is looking good - may be sold out, the Argos are in town (I could make some comments, but will refrain, remembering the Riders this time last year), and it’s 30 C - a clear Prairie night. Much beer will be consumed tonight!

Yay…got my green and white shirt on ready to cheer them on to victory :)…

Keith

Whatever… The Leo’s are on pace for another sub 0.500 season. Grey Cup, here we come!
