Ridiculous Post Parties

When/if I reach 1000 posts I hope that it is at best the tenth most significant accompishment of mine that day. Otherwise I will be an even bigger loser than many of you suspect.

I entered these boards at a difficult time in my life, and inmmediately found a large body of intelligent, interesting funny people who loved sharing their knowledge and opinions. This is exactly what I had sought most of my adult life and never found.

I started posting feverishly and within a month had created a work-place problem because of my frequent visits here during work hours. When I got to 100 posts I opened a thread which mentioned this. It wasn’t a party, just me sharing my delight in the company, and fears of over-involvement.

A very experienced poster immediately dropped in and flamed me with “get a life, you’re pathetic” remarks. It really hurt - mostly because I was faced with the fact that this isn’t quite a community of caring and loving people. That certainly happens, but I’m less naive about the range of people I’m likely to meet here.

Because of that unpleasant experience, I frequently drop into post parties to leave a quick friendly message. Sure, in a way there’s not much point, but it doesnt hurt anyone.

Techchick68 said it would be advisable NOT to have post counts, on the basis that all posters have the ability to offer useful material, and I agree wholeheartedly .

Also, I’m in the same party as the very amusing MisterEcks. I’m sure he, like me, sees those threads titled “Get A Hug Here” or “Heterosexual Flirting Thread Here” and sighs and moves on.

Just like you should do, Euty mate, when you see those Post Party threads.
