I try not to make a practice of it, but I’ve watched the Jerry Springer show and actually managed to get through about 30 minutes of the Rikki Lake program from time to time. Rikki Lake, I must admit, has a tendency to make me run for the Rolaids. At least Jerry Springer doesn’t lead his guests and audience on like Rikki Lake does.
The curious thing I spotted and then went back to check over a period of weeks, is that Rikki Lake seems to primarily to have remarkably stupid and belligerent Black guests on while Jerry Springer concentrates on displaying the same type, but with White guests.
Anyone else noticed this? Rikki seems to concentrate on finding the generally overweight, morally corrupt and just plain nasty Black people and Jerry does the same with White. Some new form of racial slam?
I have to say that the shrill voice of Rikki just annoys the heck out of me and I prefer Springers more laid back attitude. I no longer watch either very often because they all have a tendency to produce the same crap, over and over again and, besides, I often get this urge to take a baseball bat to some of the ‘guests’.
I consider both shows on the level with ‘professional’ wrestling – annoying, staged and closely watched by those with low IQs.
I like to pretend that when these shows are broadcast, the FCC sends a special signal to the viewers’ TV sets. This signal would override certain safety constraints and bathe the home audience with extra high doses of EMF, hopefully rendering them sterile.
I’d like to categorize Springer and Ricki as good stupid fun, but I’ve never gotten any pleasure from seeing people acting like violent assholes.

There are no accidents 'round here.”
I am not a big fan of Rikki Lake at all I think that she is dull and boring. I must admit that I do watch Jerry Springer on occasion. His show is not quite a violent as it used to be. I noticed that his security people tore the clothes off the female guests while under the pretense of holding them back from attacking another guest…moreso than the guests tore at each other’s clothing.I believe he got called down on that. His career in politics certainly prepared him for bigger and better things…you think?

I was home on Martin Luther King day, which I celebrated by watching Rikki Lake doing “Fat Hoochie Mama Makeovers” (“They think they’re all that—but they’re just too fat!”)
The Fat Hoochie Mamas seemed to be pretty much evenly divided between the races. The fact that they existed at all—let alone were delighted to parade their fat hoochiness on Rikki Lake—did indeed send me into a mental and emotional tailspin for the rest of the day.
. . . And when you think that Rikki once worked with Divine, the very goddess of fat hoochie mamas!
