Maybe one of the race mods I use causes planet generation to bug out? Disabled the ones from that and I’m able to get a new planet again.
I recently picked this up at 55% off and just finished the tutorial. Definitely evokes RimWorld in 3D!
I seem to be mainly interested in getting RimWorld colonies set-up and functioning. Lost track of how many I’ve started since picking up the game again. They’re all custom starts, though; as a result of the many race mods I have active, a vanilla start would have too many incidents that I’d rather not deal with.
My most recent colony is Vault-inspired although not nearly as ambitious as the examples at that workshop page. These dwellers even have a Mr. Handy and a Nurse Handy.
I also have a colony of giant spiders, a Gerzee colony, a Mincho colony, some retired pirates, etc.
Oh, yeah: thanks to Scenario Pawns and Corpses, I’m finally able to start a somewhat proper colony of unlicensed companions. That mod allows starting child & adult backgrounds to be specified in the scenario setup.
Pretty sure I don’t have companion colony active right now, I think all those saves ran into that disappearing rock bug.
I had an absolute blast with Stranded: Alien Dawn. After beating the crash landing scenario on normal felt unsatisfyingly easy I decided to overcorrect the difficulty. Here’s full video for my iron survivor true solo run, which means Insane difficulty, Chaos moon and only 1 survivor the whole time. I genuinely didn’t know if I would be able to win until like 4 game years in.

Most notably, Odyssey will add the ability for your pawns to build their own transport ship, which can be later expanded into a mobile base, enabling travel anywhere on the planet. I’m guessing travel to other planets will be in 1.7.

I have yet to really start playing; only fired up 1.6 yesterday and still running mod tests. Seeing which have been updated and play nice with each other.
I’m really missing the LWM expanded storage mod. They just delivered a baby the day before 1.6 dropped.
I’m at work right now so I can’t verify but this could be viable alternative.
Thanks for the tip. It looks great, though it has a couple of dependencies I am not currently using, but I’ll check it out.
Looking around at all the mods I use which were abandoned after 1.4 without continuations or forks, I’m considering setting up an alternate Steam account just to mess around in 1.4 on my old computer. With the mod list pared down so as not to take ~45 minutes to completely load.
Still waiting for biome mods to be updated. The author of ReGrowth took ill and redwood forests have migrated to Nature’s Pretty Sweet (Continued) – which, like all of Mlie’s mods, will be updated eventually.
I did set up an alt account on Steam (rwbt_fan - “RimWorld BioTech Fan”) and will probably add 1.4 there after I get paid on Saturday.
While checking out biome mods for 1.6, I happened across
which provides more really alien biomes, along the lines of
I had to turn off a couple of those Alphas in 1.4 – too alien for me!
With the new polluted biomes in Odyssey and GRimTerra, Vanilla Races Expanded - Waster looks to be an interesting faction to play.
Well, I finally got my mod list mostly set up; just missing those biomes. Decided to start playing anyway, set up a custom Vault scenario and settled in a gorge with headwaters. My apologies for the incorrect link earlier.
A gorge is really the only proper place to put a Vault. In 1.4, I tried creating a vault in a cavern entrance; I didn’t care for the aesthetic due to needing multiple entrances.
