Yes, I just saw this. Heroism.
Even cynical old me was struck by this one, in a world where hero is thrown around far too easily this is an example of true, selfless bravery. Fair play to that man, if “judge me by my actions” holds true then he is worthy of respect.
I also can’t help but think of that cop at the parkland school, the one that hung outside instead of trying to do something. The comparison with a real cop just makes that event even sadder.
Wow. The guy really did the ultimate act we expect of those who accept the position of society’s guardian.
Not to be morbid or anything, but are there any more details about the actual shooting? Did the hostage taker just shoot him in cold blood, or was there some sort of struggle that ensued? I understand he left his cell phone on so the other cops could hear what was going on inside. Was that the case of his death? Or, maybe we’ll never really know?
Saw that on the BBC news this morning, it’s the sort of act that you hope you’d be capable of as well but who really knows until they are tested? He should rightfully be given all the honours and plaudits going.
