Weird death! It was originally reported as a suicide because she was found hanging, but details in the past week have surfaced that explain that it was a homicide; apparently she got into some sort of noise dispute with an illegal alien construction worker in her building, and he punched her, killing her (she was tiny). He then rigged up her body to make it look like a suicide.
Shelly is probably best remembered as the impossibly adorable Audry Hugo in Hal Hartley’s classic The Unbelievable Truth, and as Maria in Trust. What a senseless, ridiculous death.
This is Horrible. I really liked her in The Unbelievable Truth. I can’t believe she died in such an awful way. I hope her killer gets the max and rots in prison the rest of his life.
Why is the fact that he is an illegal alien relevant to reporting the murder?

It’s somewhat relevant he hit her to prevent her from calling the police and filing some sort of noise complaint or something. Had the police shown up they’d have discovered he was illegal. So… hit her to shut her up, then thinking you’ve killed her anyway, make it look like a suicide.
If he hadn’t been illegal, there’d have been less reason for him to kill her.
