RIP Bobby Sherman

He apparently earned seven gold singles, one platinum single, and five gold albums. I don’t even think of him as a music performer.

Bobby was a teen pop star. Then moved into acting.

Sherman left show business in the 1970s for a career as a paramedic and a deputy sheriff.

He lived a very private life. I haven’t seen much reported.

He was in the 60’s teen idol fan magazines. Anything in them was probably not accurate.

RIP

I always thought the little played song “The Drum” was his best.

Was vaguely familiar with him being a singer held in high esteem by teenaged girls in the early 70s. I had no idea he became a paramedic. Curious coincidence: I saw an ‘Emergency!’ episode a few days ago on METV where he portrayed a cynical intern doctor at “Rampart”. Initially disdainful of paramedics, by episode’s end he did a complete 180 and came to admire them.

What is that. . .four in the past month? I remember Sherman as just another flavor of the month, but he had some hits.

I remember him on the covers of teen idol magazines in the 60s and 70s. He did an episode on “The Partridge Family” that was just a lead-in to his own sitcom, “Gettin’ Together.” He played a talented musician who couldn’t write lyrics, who met up with a talented lyricist who was definitely not musical. Elton and Bernie, anyone? Anyway, it only lasted 13 episodes, as I recall.

Sad news about Sherman, but I’m glad to hear that he went on to what was obviously a rewarding second career.

RIP

First thing that comes to mind about him is his character in “Here Come The Brides” and his version of the theme song “Seattle”.

I remember his music career well, I bought (and still own) all of his 45s.

Wait, you mean he didn’t love butter pecan ice cream and walking in the rain?

mmm

I got one of his records from a box of Alpha Bits.

Coincidentally, Stephanie got stuck in my head last Sunday. I mean, it was mostly because a lady at work is named Stephanie, but I see her every weekend and never think of the song. For whatever reason, I felt compelled to sing it to her at her. It made her laugh. RIP, Bobby, from one of many who had a big crush on you.

All I know about him is Marge Simpson had a crush on him as a girl and Lisa found this endlessly hilarious.

Well, he outlived everybody else on the cover.

That’s exactly how I knew him. My older sisters had his 45s.

I remembered Bobby Sherman for the song Hey Mister Sun. 1970 - I must’ve been in 5th grade or so.

For some reason I always identified BS w/ neck “chokers” - which seemed to be a fad briefly. At the time I thought BS extremely cool!

Technically…not. (for being “on” the cover)
Stefan Arngrim is still alive. I never heard of him, had to look him up. He no longer looks like he did on Land of the Giants.

Same here, though it might have been Raisin Bran. It was the first rock/pop record which I ever owned.

Yep. Saw that episode as well.

Wasn’t Marcia Brady “mad” about him? And, as luck would with have it she got to meet him.

Definitely could have been Raisin Bran.

As long as we’re remembering Bobby Sherman memorabilia, did you know there was a Bobby Sherman comic book, as a tie-in with his TV show? I don’t know how many issues were published (I suspect only one), but Likeks has posted it, page by page, on his web site:

Complete with a guest appearance by Danny Partridge.

The ads are just what you’d expect. Fans could order Bobby’s Love Beads, Bobby stickers, Bobby’s private photo album, and a book titled The Secret of Bobby Sherman. Oh, and a book by Susan Dey, titled Boys, Beauty, and Popularity: How to Have Your Share of Each.

Have a look. It’s interesting.

That was Davy Jones…I’m not proud to know that.
