I guess the Trinity cemetery is non-denominational. Apparently Koch arranged his burial a few years ago. I thought at first it meant he would actually be buried in Trinity Churchyard, next to Alexander Hamilton or something, but it’s a different cemetary, also located in Manhattan.
He was proud of his Jewish heritage but he wasn’t very observant, unless you consider loving Manhattan a religion. And as far as I know Jews don’t believe there is anything “specially Jewish” about any particular burial location - you can be buried anywhere, as long as its in the earth and marked by a tombstone. Of course there are Jewish cemeteries but I think that’s customary more than a religious requirement.
Despite what a certain TV show would have you believe SVU detectives don’t investigate homicides. They only handle rapes and other forms of sexual assault.
I only saw him in person once. I was a kid cutting school to attend a parade in NYC. His car came by & he was waving to the crown from the back seat. It looked like everyone else was waving and also like he was looking right at me. So, to be different, I gave him a big thumbs up instead.
Low and behold, his head went back a little and he gave me a big thumbs up back and a smile. It was a very funny moment. Then his car drove on.
Over the years, I disagreed with a couple of his POVs that I’d heard on radio and I thought he’d really lost it when he kept endorsing Peter King. Still, I always would laugh & cut him a little slack thinking of a chance smile & a simple thumbs up.
