Jazz great Lionel Hampton has died. He was 94. And he WILL be missed. (time to pull out my recording of the Goodman Carnegie Hall concert out)
Guess he’s flying home now.
God bless him.
I like the music of Hampton and Milt Jackson. Both great vibraphonists. Now both gone. But their music will play on.
I heard this on the radio this morning.
Damn. One of my father’s favorites, and one of mine, too. That man could play the vibes, Lord-Lord. Thank God for recordings.
He was an accomplished drummer, too. A natural musician if ever there was one. He’ll be missed.
