So I’m really liking this game so far, but I’m in this Soviet installation where I was taken prisoner and now it’s just turned into a FPS. I’m sure it doesn’t stay this way, but how much of the rest of the game is going to be like this? I despise FPS games. I’ve played a few back in the day and all they are is the same old games with a new skin. How they manage to recycle the same game over and over and get people to buy it amazes me. Should I just quit now or is there very little of this for the rest of the game?
I haven’t played Rise of the Tomb Raider but the last Tomb Raider game was 80% third person shooter so I wouldn’t be surprised if this one followed the same path.
Third person shooter
And this game, even though it added some more open areas as compared to the first, is still 95% just a linear action game, with about 5% of interesting cool tomb-raidery things to do, zero narrative agency, and simplistic combat.
It’s sad, but that’s what the console mass market likes. It’s the same old linear action “cinematic” game that is almost every big console game.
It’s the most boring type of game there is, IMHO. Sure looks pretty though, but I’m not picking it up when it comes to PC, they didn’t improve on the design from the original reboot in a way that has me excited.
