Rittenhouse writes a book and may enter politics

Kyle Rittenhouse has a book - almost. It can be pre-ordered.

According to the link, Rittenhouse has fund raising potential and is being considered as a candidate for office in Texas. What is Rittenhouse potential appeal to voters? Seems like a war hero thing, or maybe the common man. But Rittenhouse is just some confused kid who shot three people. Is that sufficient qualification to be considered for public office.

in Texas? Most certainly.

And it’s totally irrelevant that he’s not a Texan, of course. Crossing state lines to do evil things is his established M. O.

He’s not confused.

Rittenhouse was observed by the Texas Tribune last month meeting with the head of an influential, ultraconservative PAC. Also seen walking into the building was white nationalist Nick Fuentes and our Republican Party Chairman. The furor over the news forced major Republican figures in Texas to denounce Fuentes, but Rittenhouse is clearly being groomed for a run.

Yup, he intended to commit murder, he made a plan to commit murder, and his plan to commit murder worked out exactly the way he intended it to. He’s evil, not confused. And in a just world, he’d someday go on trial for it.

OK, I stand corrected on the confused part.

So name recognition and a willingness to be a figurehead is all it takes.

Good lord - it would be hard to identify anyone who has less of “the right stuff” than this punk.

I thought it was democrats who groomed youngsters…

Once you get a taste of the grift, you don’t want to give it up.

C’mon!
Compared to most politicians Kyle is a straight shooter.
Kyle is always on target.
Kyle is locked, loaded, and ready to govern.
At least 50/50 that we’ll see at least one bumper sticker/campaign slogan like the above.

I think this is 99% of it.

I thought MTG and her ilk were competing for his services as an intern (?).

You are embarrasing yourself, stop.

I think that the success that Trump, Marjorie T Green, Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz, George Santos, et al should have obliterated any notion that one needs to have qualifications to hold public office.

These days, what right-wing voters are looking for are people who are “fighters” in an ongoing culture war. Whether this particular killer can translate his physical body count to a symbolic political body count is up for grabs. I think that one of the best known photos of him is (fake) crying in court, he might have a Dukakis-grade image problem to overcome.

Why do you think it was fake? Hes young, his freedom hung in the balance. I’d have cried too.

Would you have placed yourself in Kenosha as an armed vigilante in the first place?

Actually, this is the only thing I felt was sincere in his testimony (not that it excused his idiotic behavior of taking a weapon to a rally in search of trouble, or showed self-awareness of why he caused his own problems).

Rittenhouse thought he’d be hailed as a hero. He cried when he thought he might actually have to face consequences. He was a stupid, immature kid. I’m sure many of us have cried when something we did brought the threat of actual punishment into our minds; I know I did when I stupidly took a flare gun into a diner and I inadvertently set it off. I was looking at some serious punishment including prison time. I’m not ashamed to say that my father worked for the city and called in a few favors and got the charges dropped.

I take issue only with your use of the past tense.

I’m not sure he qualifies as a “kid” anymore besides emotionally. That was the only reason for the usage of past tense.
