Road rage because of a bumper sticker!?!?

Yeah, you betcha, Mhendo. Sure thing.

We’re all thickheaded and unreasonable. That’s why we didn’t vote to try and put a traitor in the White House.

:wally

You might have gotten away with it had you not followed it with this tripe:

If there is anything guaranteed to demonstrate that you in particular are thickheaded and unreasonable, that second sentence does it. Asshole.

From the 911 phone call in the linked story: “Oh my goodness, he’s a fanatic, he’s in the middle of the street!”"
Aha, the accused is obviously not a liberal, but a centrist.

So George W. Bush saved us from the Viet Cong after all?

[QUOTE=OtakuLoki}What I don’t get is why anyone would keep on a political bumper sticker past the election.[/QUOTE]

I keep my “Feingold 2004” sticker on because Russ Feingold is just that awesome.

Any other political candidate, probably not.

How old are you? Because at some point you’ll hopefully grow out of using this insult on anyone who disagrees with you. Seriously, there’s nothing that so clearly marks a person as a fucking idiot than using the words “sheep” or “drone” in an argument.

The reason people put political bumper stickers on their cars is to promote a viewpoint. It’s a little bit of advertising, and the idea is to make it look like your candidate is popular and make folks subconsciously jump on the bandwagon. Does it work? I dunno. I’d resort to a lot worse than that to get Bush out of office. (And I did. And it didn’t work. Hell, I even gave money to the Democrats.)

Then fucking leave. If you can’t fucking take a goddamn joke without losing your composure, then no, sweetheart, this isn’t the place for you. Why’s it seem to be that here on the SDMB at least the Republicans are more humorless than a PETA activist reading a “Nuke the Whales” bumper sticker?

Any Bush-voters here want to assure me that this doesn’t reflect you guys’ views? Because I’ve heard a lot of this one over the past year or so.

What the hell is this even supposed to mean?

You have a cite showing that they actually succeded in taking over Texas?

Must be nice, being able to paint the target on after you’ve fired the shotgun.

Cisco: Libruhhls R Traytors! Libruhhls R Traytors!

Or so O’Really tells me.

Can a mod close this train wreck before it gets more acrimonious?

I wanted to discuss the idea of road raging (or other unacceptable behavior) on the basis of a political bumper sticker. Not get into a war about which side has the least savory supporters. There are fuckwits in every camp. And some pretty great people, too - again, in every camp.

Fer Og’s sake, people, take a fucking chill pill!

RABBLE!

Ya. It couldn’t have possibly been someone you pissed off with your asshole personality.

Older than you by about 6 years. Yeah, I am such an idiot because I recognize that some people do things merely because others do them. Grow up kid.

Too bad your emotional development seems stunted. When I was fifteen and shopped at Hot Topic, I used to call people “sheep” too.

Well, no, in fairness I was never quite that fucking stupid. But I knew little fifteen-year-old malternative types who said things like that. Most of them have grown out of it by now.

Well in my case the sticker itself was about half scratched off and then, FUCK YOU! was inscribed near the bumper. The two things happened during the same trip to the video store so I’m pretty sure they were related.

Yeah, you are apparently even stupider than those kids you are talking about. For instance, you took one line out of my whole argument and extrapolated an extreme position on my statement. If you read what I said, and look at it IN FUCkING CONTEXT, moron, you will see that I wasn’t calling all people sheep. I gave three reasons for a person to do something, being a sheep was just one, and I only threw it in there because there are people out there that do things just because “the jones” are doing it too.

My emotional development is just fine, thanks. I think you need to learn context and develp your stunted reading comprehension skills there kiddo. My statement was not one of “malternative type.”

My argument: people put bumber stickers on the car as a form of self expression, a way to express their individuality. Even though I don’t do this, I can see why on an intellectual level. The OP said he does it just to amuse himself. Sure, whatever, I argued against it. In no way was I being surly and calling him a sheep.

You come in and accuse me of being some punky ass kid with no emotional development because I used the word sheep. You sir, are a class A idiot and the biggest fucking prick in this thread. Go away and go pretend you are so sophisticated and mature. Some day you will grow up and realize that you aren’t as mature as you think you are. My 27 years have show me a lot of things that I thought were wrong, but that SOME people do things simply because others are doing them is not one of them.

Go fuck yourself.

You’re talking about sheep in the context of fucking? Wow, that’s sick. Sicko.

You’re getting your undies twisted to an unnecessary degree. Take some deep breaths. Ascribing the mentality of “baa” kneejerk conformity to people who do things you don’t agree with is a way of sidestepping actual argument. Whatever context you meant it in, it’s highly unlikely that anyone stuck a political bumper sticker on their car because all the neighbors were doing it. And yeah, I’ve seen that a lot in the context of teenagers calling those from other cliques conformists or sheep or drones. Sorry, it’s just not a very convincing argument.

Perhaps you just did it . . . because everyone else did? No, I’m being serious. You sound like a fucking idiot trying to argue that there is not a strong herd mentality among the general population. Newsflash: there is, and everyone that says so isn’t a stupid 15 year old goth kid aping what he heard another 15 year old goth kid said (but that is kind of ironic, isn’t it?)

And by the way, if you shopped at Hot Topic when you were 15, you can’t be very old. I suggest you not use the “you’re too young to understand” argument around here.

Great debate tactic. You obviously lead the field in maturity.

Wow, you really are dense aren’t you? I am not saying people that don’t agree with me are sheep. You are ascribing that to my argument, but it is a bit of a stretch there bucko. I gave THREE, count em, 1, 2, 3 reasons somebody would use a bumber sticker. Only ONE, 1/3 of my reasons, was the “sheep” mentality. Only one. And I save it for last because I tend to put things in order of signifigance. And I wasn’t sidestepping an argument. Did you even bother reading the rest of my post, or did you just home in on the one little sentance and build a whole plan from one sentence? Genius, bravo.

Now learn to read dumbass.
