Robert Jordan dies...what will happen to the WOT series?

I didn’t see a thread in the forum about his death or what it will mean for the series. I’m well aware that the majority of 'dopers don’t like Robert Jordan and despise the Wheel of Time series. If you are one of the horde who feels this way please just ignore the thread…I don’t want to hear a bunch of ‘the series sucks’ or ‘I’m glad he’s dead so there won’t be any more books’ type posts. Just move on by…nothing to see here.

If you are one of the few who actually like the series my question is…what will happen now? I was not completely surprised he’s gone…I know he’s been sick a long time. I’m pretty bummed out that he’s dead…and I’m upset that it looks like the series may never get finished. Is it possible that, as when Robert Howard died someone else may pick up the series and finish it off? Would his (presumed) notes be available to the publisher to give to another writer perhaps?

It’s being discussed in this thread right above you: The Wheel of Time Turns - RIP Robert Jordan - Cafe Society - Straight Dope Message Board

Yep…mods feel free to close this one.

My prediction is that his publisher is going to give him a vicious V.C. Andrewing, and we’ll be treated to a neverending series of ghost-written sequels that steadily degrade in quality without ever offering anything in the way of resolution, with characterization disposed of in favor of a collection of nervous tics and obsessivly detailed descriptions that add nothing to the plot, said plot being in every particular a shamelessly rip-off of some other, better source, all done without regard to making the whole thing mesh into any kind of a coherent whole.

In other words, pretty much exactly what would have happened if he were still alive.
