Robert Pattinson is a pretty good actor

I never really knew anything about him except from the twilight films. But I recently saw ‘Good Time’ where he plays a sociopath, and he did a really good job in that. I also saw the lighthouse and Damsel which he was also in and enjoyed both his performances.

I never saw any of the twilight movies, but hes a pretty good actor who picks some pretty good movies to act in.

On an unrelated note, Elijah Wood was really good in ‘I don’t feel at home in this world anymore’ and ‘maniac’.

I wonder if there is something about being a young heartthrob or doing movies that are extremely successful that makes an actor want to take on a wide range of more artistic roles after they are more established.

Oh, yes, he’s a good actor. I think he is briefly in Werner Herzog’s Queen of the Desert as well.

I have yet to see Lighthouse, but have heard great things about it and his performance in it. I think he always knew Twilight was absolute crap, but you gotta make what they give you.

Hayden Christensen is also not a bad actor. I liked the movie Awake with him and my understanding is that he is good in other movies. I think he does fine in Jumper as well.

Watch ‘The King’ on Netflix. He received very positive reviews for his amusingly over the top portrayal of King Henry’s antagonist, the Dauphin of France.

Anyhow, he better get good. He’s the next Batman.

He was actually pretty good in Shattered Glass. I think is somewhat weaselly, whining mannerisms are more suited to a story about a disgraced reporter than his portrayal of Mannequin Skywalker, future Dark Lord of the Galaxy.

It is unfortunate that being associated with the Twilight series created a somewhat negative view of both Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as actors, because the material was not beloved. For example, I recall a lot of snarky comments about Stewart’s blank expression.

Since then, however, they have both emerged as very respected talents. It helps that they both sought out indy films and less showy roles. Yes, Stewart is in the new Charlie’s Angles (which flopped bigtime), but she has earned the right to cash a paycheck now and again. Same with Pattinson as Batman, yah? I hope they both keep making more arty stuff along with their big studio roles.

Yes, agree. I like him in most of the movies mentioned so far (I haven’t seen The King), especially GOOD TIME. Also check out THE ROVER (with Guy Pearce), THE LOST CITY OF Z (he plays the main character’s guide), and COSMOPOLIS (the David Cronenberg movie that people should look to if they want to get a hint of how he will be as Bruce Wayne).

I also like Kristen Stewart’s indie career path, and thought she was funny and fantastic in Charlie’s Angels (my guilty pleasure of 2019).

If you’re looking to become an actor, and you get offered a part in a movie, you take it. You don’t stop to ask if the movie’s going to be any good. From the actor’s point of view, any acting gig is a good one.

Maybe, eventually, once you’re a well-established successful actor with a long filmography, you can afford to turn down roles in bad films. But not at the start of your career.
