RobinWords is a game where you “change one letter in the four-letter word the computer gives you. The computer will then change one letter in the word you used and so on. You may not use proper nouns or reuse words that have already been used. The first person to use up all possible words wins!”
The caveat is that the game cheats a bit by occasionally using a foreign word while barring you from doing the same, or using what seems like a word fragment. Still, it’s probably fair to give the computer a handicap and makes the game more challenging.
You can get lucky with a good starting word and the game can be won fairly quickly.
I just lost one in 91 turns. I gave the computer ‘lech’, it countered with ‘tech’ and game over.
Anyone want to try it and share their successes or frustrations?
Won one very quickly, within 25, with nothing memorable. Then got an epic one of 146 which I finally won with cyst. Interesting game, but weird dictionary that includes all sorts of fish names apparently.
yeah, that game can bite me and I told it so as it wouldn’t accept sild which is a young herring other than a brisling that is canned as a sardine in Norway
that program can eat crap & die. it used phat which, I’m sorry, I don’t think is a real word. when I looked it up in m-w, it said slang. so later I went with glam, which is JUST as much a real word as phat and it refused to accept it.
