It’s been awhile since we had one of these “versus” threads. I thought I’d continue the tradition.
So who do you think? Robocop or Terminator? And when I say Terminator, I’m not talking about the T-1000 (the liquid metal one in T2). I’m talking about the standard issue T-900, Model 101. Of course, the use of weapons would not be allowed; this would strictly be hand-to-hand combat.
Personally, I put my money on Terminator. Robocop seems too slow and not very agile. He also needs to eat every now and then (indicating that the energy he depletes must be regenerated), whereas Terminator doesn’t need to. However, Robocop seems to be pretty strong. I mean, he did defeat ED-209 (could be wrong on that model #), the giant robot in the first one with gattling guns for arms.
Anyway, enough about what I think. Who do you think would be victorious?
I hear Arnold wants to do another Terminator movie. I have the perfect plot:
The Terminator is sent back in time to save Jack from sinking on the Titanic! Think about it – how many bad movies and novels do you know of where the hero ends up on the Titanic? And they never do succeed. But can see Arnold striding up to Leonard diCaprio and grabbing him by the arm on the gangplank.
“Get…Out!”
Arnold takes his place, making blocky sketches of reclining nudes. The Ttanic sinks. Five years later, he walks ashore in Manhattan.
This actually depends on where the battle takes place. If it takes place in a movie then it is no contest: Robo-Cop wins. Just by virtue of he is the good guy and the terminator is a villian. If it was not on film, then terminator all the way.
It seemed like the Terminator from the first movie was kind of dumb. I mean it used pure brawn to take out everybody while the humans used their cleverness to beat him. Since Robocop still has some of Murphy’s consciousness residing within it, I think Murphy would come up with some clever way to beat Terminator by like luring him to a hall of mirrors where a picture of John Connor is reflected everywhere. The Terminator would go on a rampage and Robocop would beat Terminator to death with his T-900 foot.
They get into a big gun battle, tearing up whatever part of town they meet in… then they realise they’ve been set up by some whiny villan… and go stomp him flat. Both end up respecting each other.
kasuo’s got it completely right. Terminator’s main approach seemed to be “walk down the center of the corridor taking hits, then dispatch whatever shot at you.” Murphy used a lot more weak-point identification and problem solving:
Got ED-209 to fall face down on stairs, unable to rise.
Fired shots into barrel of opponent’s rocket launcher, causing it to detonate.
Plotted ricocheting course for bullets to take out thug holding hostage.
Plus his body armor could probably withstand nearly anything the T-900 dished out hand-to-hand.
End result: thoughtful Renaissance-man actor one, Austrian Oak-brain zero.
There would be nothing that could be used to the fighters’ own advantage. They would be fighting in a circular pit with a floor comprised of sand. The pit would be about 30 feet in diameter, with 20 feet high concrete walls. Spectators could then look down at them from a safe distance.
Also, the T-900 would not have its flesh covering. Now, like I said in the OP, RoboCop seems to be stronger and heavier than the T-900. Without its flesh covering, it looks skinny and weak. But, from just the sheer evil of the T-900 and the inherent good of RoboCop, it seems to me that the Terminator would win.
