The founder of the band died a few months ago. (Here’s an interview where Barry says the same.) Since they said they only play one show a year, it’s hardly even a breakup- they’re taking off one more day than usual. I didn’t realize they were going away, but that was a nice sendoff.

I saw them live a year or two ago (got free tix), and it was a fun show, but you certainly weren’t there for the virtuosity. They played “Gloria” (the Van Morrison one) as an encore and got everyone fired up pretty good (although that’s the perfect song for it – I added the “Jesus died for somebody’s sins, but not mine” part in my head).
