Rock n' Roll HoF Inductees Announced [updated title]

-Lou Reed kind of sucked after his Velvet Underground days, so I say no to him. Besides his Velvet Underground group is already in.
-NWA was actually a good group, I say they are a easy choice, especially with this new NWA movie coming out.
-Joan Jett…Making 2 maybe 3 songs tops that were good, should not get you in any Hall of Fame.
-GreenDay…I can’t imagine them not getting in, especially in these days of commercial music.
-Sting…I never liked him and i’m guessing he’s in the same boat as Lou Reed. I know The Velvet Underground are in but are The Police in?
-Stevie Ray Vaughan…another one whom I hate but i’m actually shocked he’s not in yet.
-The Smiths…Another group who sucks and without big names like Lou Reed always promoting them, they would have been a bunch of nobodys. Regardless, they probably have a good chance of making it.
-Chic…probably has a chance because groups will yap about how they were influenced by them, yet 99 percent of the country probably can’t name one song by them.

My mistake on the group “Chic”…after listening to a few of their songs, I deff heard of them. Actually they probably have a good chance in making it in.

How can you hate Stevie Ray, chicagowhitesox1173? I can see not liking his music or whatever, but hate? for an amazing guitarist? Huh.

GreenDay; ugh.

Jonathan Chance has one thing right:

Well I don’t hate him as a guitarist but I do hate his music. I really am shocked he’s not in though.

I’m the other way around. I like what he did; it’s very entertaining. I own and listen to the two of his albums that were excellent. But it’s not Hall of Fame worthy.

Oh, wait, we’re talking about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? The one in Cleveland? He’s in.

I was never much of a guitar solo kinda guy. Whats even worse is a drum solo.

I care.

So you’d also be surprised that Iron Butterfly isn’t in?

I’m not surprised Iron Butterfly isn’t in…they are like Tommy John, a very borderline baseball pitcher who some feel deserves to be in baseballs Hall of Fame.

I also looked up Iron Butterfly and i’m assuming their signature song was Gada Da Vida or something along those lines, anyways, they have the song on youtube and the drummer, sure enough had a very long and boring drum solo. I’m guessing they are well known for the long drum solos.

Iron Butterflt because of the long drum solos should not be allowed in.

I love, love, love the drum solo on “In a Gadda da Vida.” There are very few other drum solos I will listen to, but that one I will always love.

They are not a HoF candidate under any reasonable definition. I do champion “Soul Experence” from their third album as the great lost psychedelic/hippie song, though.

Bass soloes are the worst.

The Policeb are in. The jam session at the end served as a “reunion”.

Well, they did do an actual reunion tour in 2007-2008, for anyone who wasn’t at the ceremony.

I’ve never been to big on the straight (or straight-ish) blues, because I find myself being quite bored listening to the stuff most of the time. That said, SRV was an extremely talented musician, and I, too, don’t quite see how one could “hate” the man.

Precisely.

I wasn’t aware they had bass solos but you are probably right.

I admit saying, I hate SRV, but I meant more that I hate his music. I obviously don’t know the guy, so yeah hating him as a person was a bit harsh to say.

Oh, even though I KNOW he’s going to be elected, I feel compelled to print out a list of acts who have had top 40 hits more recently than Lou Reed:

Paul Anka
Louis Armstrong
The Beach Boys
Chuck Berry
Gary “U.S.” Bonds
Ray Charles
Chubby Checker
Perry Como
John Denver
Neil Diamond
The 4 Tops
Engelbert Humpersinck
The Hollies
Johnny Mathis
The Monkees
Donny Osmond
Bobby “Boris” Pickett
Elvis Presley
The Righteous Brothers
Johnny Rivers
Frank Sinatra
Dusty Springfield
The Tokens
Frankie Valli
Bobby Vinton
Yes

I think Johnny Mathis might have literally sucked cock too, if that’s a disqualifier.

They do.

That band has no chance either, will just have to get in line behind Yes, The Moody Blues, and Kate Bush, among others.
