Nica the talking malamutt has dug several beds in the backyard. We have the “sun never on it” under the deck bed. The “you took that paving stone out and put fresh dirt in it for me” bed, the four "new plants are comfortable to lay on bed (now fenced off) and “The very large hole at the bottom of stair landing” bed.
My question is about the “very large hole at the bottom of the landing” bed. It’s about 10 inches deep and will be (as soon as I dig a root out) about 2 feet square.
I’d like to dump a 2-3 inch layer of small landscaping rocks in it so that she doesn’t lay in it after a rain storm and then lay on the hardwood floors and make a rather interesting pattern of mud. I expect that she will dig it out a bit more for comfort every now and then, but I can always throw the rocks back in.
Has anyone tried this? Did it work in the long run?
