Rocky Horror Picture Show (Possible Spoiler)

I recently bought the Rocky Horror Picture Show 25th anniversary edition DVD where they have both the US and UK version of the movie.

I watched both. I can’t figure out what the difference is!

Could someone who watched both versions and who is more observant point out what the difference is?

P.S. Great DVD otherwise.

The UK version contains the song Superheroes at the end whereas the US version does not.

There is also a third version of the movie hidden on the disk…The Wizard of Oz version…

Spoiler warning? On a 25 year old movie?

Next thing you know, everyone’ll be upset because they heard about Bambi’s mother dying before they had a chance to see the film. I know it ruined it for me.

I killed Bambi’s mother.

Damn shame, too . . . one of the prettiest songs in the show.

I was lucky enough to see the original US release (1975) at the Waverly in NYC. They were running a UK print.

That’s interesting. In all my reading of the making of RHPS, they mention that the movie was originally supposed to be filmed in black and white and then magically turn to color during the Time Warp scene. That is why the first part of the movie seems washed out and devoid of most color. They dropped the idea because it proved to be too expensive to make the transition. Now I might have to get the DVD version, after I get a DVD player, to see this “director’s cut”.

She, she, what? Oh, thanks, now that’s ruined.

Just don’t tell me whether Snow White and the Prince live happily ever after, OK?

Reeder I appreciate this piece of information. I confess I am somewhat surprised and a bit disappointed that there isn’t something else.

Thanks for the tip. I will be checking this out.

That’s why I wrote possible spoiler. Believe it or not, I played the DVD for someone who never saw the movie before. Not a kid either, a 39 year old. She loved it and couldn’t believe she had never heard of it before. I was truly shocked, but enjoyed seeing the reaction of someone seeing the movie for the first time.
